I remember that, think they had Cardiff at home next and the OB decided to get some practise in.

Wimbledon away at Sellhurst . . . . training for the game soon after against Palace. After the Palace game (it was the 0-5) me and my lad were shunted miles away from where we were parked, by goons on police horses, and later had to walk past mad Croydon scum running up and down the street, frothing, with not a copper in sight. I have declined to go back to Shitehole since. I am a typical soft as shite supporter and I don't appreciate being treated like an animal.

That said, I think that the various incidents like in the OP have helped to transform the police (no doubt 'she who knows' can comment). Back in the 70s, anyone nicked for anything nasty would appear in court on a Monday morning with a face like someone's who had gone through a car windscreen, with the law waving a statement of guilt signed, but neither written nor read, by the accused. Things improve . . . . slowly.

I remember some poor sod getting a shoeing by half a dozen of Sussex's finest at the top of the steps in the nothstand of the Goldstone. Bloody cowards.

Some years ago I met a racist thug who turned out to be a WMP officer and he proudly told me stories about p**i bashing and other activities that he and his fellow officers got up to.
It was a real eye opener and quite shocking so this case doesn't surprise me.
