Just to try and avoid the usual moaning about there never being any cheap trains, a bit of information for these two games.
Virgin Trains look knackered for both of these games, no direct trains for Coventry, looks like buses from Nuneaten. You can get a train from Reading to Coventry, but as there is only one an hour, you know that there will be no cheap train tickets. Now there is a way of training it there, by going on Chiltern from Marleybone to Leamington Spa and then it is 12 minutes from Leamington to Coventry. You can do the London to Leamington bit for £44 if you get a group of 4 together. Seemingly these can be purchased on the day.
For the Burnely game, the West Coast looks like a no no. There are buses from Crewe to Preston. So the best way is to go via Leeds and then it is about an hour and 10 minutes from Leeds. GNER have made cheap tickets available and you can book a ticket from London to Leeds for £19. It is then about another £10 to Burnely.
