Well here we are again the start of the cricket season as from today.

Two Games in the top diversion today, Sussex not opening there games until next week with the visit of Lancs.

Champions this season for a top prize of £500.000 who will it go to i would love to see Sussex take it but i feel it will go to durham again, the weather will be a key factor again this year and if it stays dry one will never know it it may i say may be Sussex ,

But Durham must be the favourite's for the title

I don't think we'll win simply because we don't have the matchwinning talent of Mushy any more. The batting looks strong, but I'm not sure we've got a good enough bowling attack. I hope to be proved wrong.

Think VVS Laxman will hand it to Peter Moores

I dont think we have a fast enough bowler to skittle teams out. Reckon we will be OK with our seamers for the first few overcast weeks of the season, but after that, who knows.

I reckon we will be a good Twenty20 team with our batting line up, but its all about The County Championship, and I dont think we have enough to bowl teams out on a regular basis

Our batting has got to perform to the point where we can regularly put teams under huge amounts of pressure. Our bowling is clearly not strong enough to win the title but we should take a one day title I reckon. Twenty20 could be interesting for us this year.

Durham will win the CC.

If we had Yassir all season and one of the young bowlers hits the form Rana had, anything is possible. Need Damien Wright to get to a flyer against Lanky and Yardy to be Captain Marvel.

Can't disagree with any of the above comments, our batting lineup is arguably the best in the country, even when Matt Prior returns to England duty but without Mushy and Rana the bowling is far too lightweight...

Bit of an anti-climax,cricket season. My Somerset membership is long expired as,well, they're not Sussex.

After our survival this season I can't wait for the f*x*u*e* to come out.

Im very excited about the Cricket season starting. after the soccerball season we have had it really has been something to look forward too!!

I think we DO have a chance of the championship but we have got to hit the ground running.

As already mentioned our inability to bowl sides out twice could be our downfall

I think Sussex are in with a chance. The batting looks stronger, we carried Adams last season. We have a strike bowler in Yassir, which we did not have last season. Lewry and Collymore with the new ball and then changes of Yassir and RMJ, does not look to bad. Rayner came on leaps and bounds last season and no team in the top division has a stand out spinner. I would like Sussex to open with Yardy and Dwayne Smith, then go Joyce, Goodwin and Nash. I think Nash is Adams natural replacement at 5 and I like the idea of a big hitter like Smith at the top of the order. I do think the squad is a little top heavy with players that are number 6’s (Hodd, Hoppo, Hamilton-Brown), but at the same time it means competition.

Also if it is dry this summer, Mushy is back on the staff from June time, so you could see Beer introduced around this time and make an impact. He looks a decent leggie and they are rare in the English game.

Debut first-class match for the boy Gatting, very interesting to see how he does.
