Going to Carlow in 2 weeks anyone been before or have recommendations?
Staying in Bagenalstown to be precise.

There isn't a huge amount of things to do in Carlow, you'll likely want to hop on the train to Dublin a few days at least. There is a not fantastic service to Baegnalstown but there is at least *a* service.

There's Old Leighlin - a cathedral town - not too far away: St Mullins

Carlow Tourism puts a lot in to its collection of garden centres and gardens, if that's your thing: Carlow Garden Festival 2012, Ireland, Carlow Garden Festival 28th July 2012 5th August 2012, South East Ireland, Delta Centre, Oak Park Forest Park, Altamont Gardens, Carlow Gardens, County Guide, Huntington Castle, Duckett's Grove, Ireland, Garden Centres, Arboretum, Ashlawn, Rathvilly, Morgans, Rathwood Garden Centre, Rath Wood Forest Trail

And one of the best chippers in the country is in Carlow Town, The Shamrock: Just-Eat.ie | Shamrock Takeaway Carlow order takeaway online now!

There's more to see in the adjoining counties really, Kildare has the National Stud, Wicklow has mountain walks and Glendalough and that sort of thing.

You could go to Avoca where Ballykissangel was filmed, there is a pub and a bookies there.....Naas races is not far.

I think I remember going there as a kid. We stayed in Wicklow.
