I know, I know, one performance against a poor side and all that, but IF McGhee keeps playing an attacking team and the new guy (plus maybe one or two others) are any good - is there any chance at all of sneaking into a play off spot.

I personally think we will finish mid table or above. I think we have under achieved so far with the wrong tactics but we do have the right personnel.

Bottom half is more realistic, we don't have the strength in depth to challenge for a whole season even if we were to get a good run going.

Bounce this again after we have played Leeds, Palace, Norwich, Wolves and Southampton.

It's no wonder people get upset when we lose because they really believe things like this. Mid Table is the ultimate as far as this, and the next few seasons are concerned.

I think you people are bi-polar. Top of the world one week, down in the dumps the next. :jester: The drugs aren't working.

No, no, i've actually thought this from the start and not wavered. I think this is easily the best squad we have had in recent years and I fancy us to get at least 7 points in those games.

I tend to agree in my current frame of mind.

We've played 6 games - I've added what I expected before the season started:

W: Plymouth (relegation certainties)
D: Derby (playoff material), Preston (playoff material), Crewe (relegation struggle)
L: Reading (top-two potential), Hull (mid table at best)

We were outclassed against Reading but haven't played crap in any league game this season. So realistically, we could be heading for a mid-table finish. Is a top 6 spot out of the question? Not quite, but still unlikely - and would mean very few injuries.

If we finish the season where we are now I'll be well pleased.

Plus, If we had played a more positive line-up against Crewe, we would have won that game easily - we were very very unlucky and a touch too negative.

The team that went down from this league last time was better in my view.

Kuipers/Roberts

Ingarmarson blackwell cullip
hart mayo
rogers chippy brooker
zamora kitson

That team was probably almost playoff material when you consider they got all but four of our points in 2 thirds of our games.

and that was it. Injuries to Kuipers before Roberts arrived and Zamora showed no strength in depth. We now have more strength in depth and are a better team for it. We also have a manager who is building for the future not bringing in good but injury prone players who have seen better days.

We are in a much stronger position than the year we went down

Sidwell and Zamora were a different class, as was Ingimarrson, but two were only ever on loan. I think we have more quality in the squad now, not relying on a few talented individuals.

I put about a dozen of these threads on NSC last season as joke. And here we are seriously discussing it - there is no middle way in the Albion universe :lolol:

We will still be lucky to finish outside of the bottom six.
