You state that you believe the money flowing from the broadcasters into the game is a massive problem, helping to cause wage inflation; and yet you have a subscription anyway? And you only seem willing to cancel it if other people agree with you?

Man up and have the courage of your own convictions. As it stands, you are helping to cause the very problem you are concerned about. You can't have your cake AND eat it. And if you decide NOT to cancel your subscription, I hope you never have the audacity to moan about player wage inflation ever again.

This.

There is no way I'd give up Sky Sports. They are the best at what they do in terms of football, cricket, golf, rugby and F1 and for me they are worth every penny, even if that money is going to wage inflation and what have you.

If enough people cancelled their sky sports package they'd go and do a "pay as you go" service which means you pay a ludicrous price for a one off event rather than getting 15 channels of turd that you never watch anyway...oh, hang on...

As much chance as the hippies of the 60's had of changing the world.

Er...they did.

Err they didn't they just ended up being part of the establishment. The need for money ensured that.

I thought they got the USA out of Vietnam, or at least diluted the will to fight. I thought they changed the way education is delivered and gave rise to the Apple generation. All the music...changed that forever, gave a voice to the disenfranchised, discovered the potential of Eastern traditions which enhanced philosophy and culture greatly. The sexual revolution too I'd argue.

They also stank of joss sticks and Ganj and drew pictures on their faces and tits.

Maybe

TRHK has stated that he believes there is a direct link between the money broadcasters pour into football, and football wage inflation.

He also has a subscription to the broadcaster who pours the most money into football.

His actions are directly enabling the very behaviour he is decrying.

How am I arguing that he should stop spending money on BHA?

Think I'll have to concede defeat on this one.:dunce::dunce::dunce:

Why is it the TV companies' fault that so much of the money goes into player wages? It's football that decides how the billions that go into the game are distributed.

Following up on a thought in another thread. If enough people thought that Sky was a malign force in football would it be possible to persuade enough people to cancel their sky sports subscription to actually affect sky's influence over football? I have a subscription and watch football and cricket. But if I felt that stopping would mean that tv companies couldn't pay as much for coverage and in doing so wage inflation would fall and many clubs might avoid the meltdown that feels it is coming, I'd stop.

I really do feel that we're storing up massive problems on the back of the money that slops in to football from broadcasters. Could we fight back and save our game?

I'd be willing to have a go. After all, this non stop football coverage is only a recent thing.
I'm a Sky Sports subscriber and I will only cancel my subscription if the price got too high - and as a month's Sky Sports subscription is a lot less than the price of a single Brighton match ticket that day is some way off yet. Certainly I wouldn't do it as part of some protest just because a few people believe that the clubs mis-spend the money they receive.

Plus, and I admit I'm in a minority, outside of Brighton and England I have virtually no interest in football and consequently don't watch it on TV, be that Sky or one of the non-subscription channels. I watch cricket, Rugby and American football and Sky is great for those. Also whilst some might argue that Sky money has been been 'bad' for football (which is an extremely debatable point - although I will concede that it hasn't always been spent wisely) it's certainly been brilliant for cricket. I know some of the more reactionary luddites won't agree, but don't bother replying as I sadly haven't the time or the energy to knock sense into your thick, backward skulls.
