When you see 2 clubs like Pompey and Forest wrestling over a manger like Cotterill it makes you realise how many light years ahead and how fantastically lucky we are to have a management team of Gus and tanno!
I honestly cant think of anything worse than having someone like cotterill in charge at my club - talk about a depressing appointment!

But Cotteril only seems to go into clubs where either there is absolutely NO ambition or expectation of progress (ie Burnley) or complete basket cases where all he has to be is a safe pair of hands and basically be a "Jimmy Case" manager. at the moment Forest seem to fit BOTH criteria!

This just SUCH the WRONG APPOINTMENT for a club like Forest. They should be able to attract a much better quality of manager than this. reminds me of the appointment of Martin Hinshelwood.......

I bet the Forest fans cannot believe this rubbish is coming their way................

Whatever you might think of Steve Cotterill, he IS an established football manager, Martiin Hinshelwood, however good he may be with the kids and behind the scenes, most definately isnt, and never will be. So hardly the best of comparisons.

Cotterill's persistent whining about how his hands are tied re finances etc etc is starting to get really tedious. He's following in the footsteps of Redknapp who was a persistent whiner about injuries, suspensions, etc as an excuse for defeat.

Cotterill was linked with the Albion job in the past. I think we dodged a bullet by not appointing him.

All good for us I suppose. Forest in turmoil, both them and Pompey needing time for their new managers to bed down etc.

So the latest is that Cotterill has left Pompey & he's on his way to Forest for interview. Forest sources saying it's not a done deal.
He's defo left Pompey though.

If there's any justice, Jones will oversee a relegation for Portsmouth. Sweet revenge for all the kiddy fiddler jibes he's had from their moronic fans because of his Southampton past.

And so the football manager merry-go-round commences for another season. Not sure what Forest see in Cotterill apart from building a team who can kick the opponents off the park. I think you need a bit more than that to stay up in the championship, that's why Dave Jones will do well with Pompey.

Nothing on the portsmouth website or their twitter feed about Cotterill leaving at the moment. Is it possible when it was reported tat Cotterrill had left Portsmouth, they meant physically, i.e. he had got on a train to nottingham and left the city, not that he had quit the club yet?

Wouldn't there be compensation issue, before he was able to leave them for nottingham, it would be foolish to quit portsmouth to go to nottingham without resolving them first.

EDIT: Never mind, just read a news report saying Forest and portsmouth are still negotiating before making an official announcement, but Cotterill has confirmed it himself.

Very surprised to see a club like Forest- who have built a reputation under the likes of Clough for being a club that does things the right way on and off the pitch- going for an utter hoofball merchant like Cotterill.

Unusual in this day and age for any club to purposely go all out for a bloke who unashamedly strings together teams full of cloggers and donkeys. That being the case, why not go for Aidy Boothroyd, who's still out of work and wouldn't have cost them a penny in compensation? Allowing Cotterill to continue his fine, fine work at Fratton Park.

I think NF are in the middle of a £25m buy-out from a Chinese consortium. No money at present but might be a few bob down the road.
Why would you get Cotterill when Coppell, O'Neil and my next door neighbor are all available?
