Steve Cotterill is one of 3 candidates to be interviewed for the vacant job at Forest.

If I was a Forest fan I would be totally underwhelmed.

If I was a Pompey fan I'd take it as a sign that the club is in terminal decline if a no mark like Cotterill doesn't want to stay. Plus I'd want him out, NOW.

A few mates of mine want him out. Can't believe he is being touted for what is, in theory, a better job. He's been pretty shit at Pompey but seems to have somehow gained credit from the fact that he has avoided relegation with a team full of ex-PL players. Hope he does go to Forest, Billy Davies must be absolutely f***ing loving this.

Hardly a week goes by without Cotterill being interviewed after a game banging on about (a) Pompey deserving at least a draw (b) the referee being to blame (c) being down to the bare bones.

I think I'd rather have the wally with the brolly back than Cotterill if I were a Forest fan.

So true. I just don't get these managers who cannot bring themselves to admit that they were soundly beaten/not good enough. Pulis is another BIG offender. Gus sometimes gets caught up in the heat of the moment and says something he will later regret but broadly speaking, he is pretty honest when we have deservedly lost.

Given the nature and the quotes that McLaren flung at the Forest board when he left I'd be suprised if hey got anyone to make the football world wake up and think: "That is an inspired appointment!"

Bit like when we appointed hinshelwood after being promised a World Cup manager.................

Unbelievable. What are Forest thinking of? Sad to see them in this state as they are a very likeable club IMO.

Mind you, I think he'd have just about kept the skates up. Hopefully their replacement will do the right thing and help them sink back to league one which would be splendid.

Cotteril knows how to work on a budget and I think that is exactly what Forest are looking for. He will keep them up from what is looking like a precarious position right now.

Yep totally agree, many people on this thread are busy taking the ****, but Cotterill hasnt had it easy wherever he has managed, and with little or no money to spend at Pompey hasnt done too bad a job at all. We might all be surprised at how well he does at Forest, providing he gets the job of course.

Er...I think you'll find Pompey still have a fair few of the players who were in the Premier League with them, plus proven Championship types like Liam Lawrence & Dave Kitson (£20k per week). With the players they have, a half decent manager should get them at least top half, if not challenging the top six. Cotterill, on the other hand, has spent most of his time whining about how hard done by he is, or crying about referees. He's also an ugly hoof-ball merchant. I bet even their own fans can't believe their luck in (a) getting rid and (b) getting compensation for it. Forest fans must be gutted this morning.

But Cotteril only seems to go into clubs where either there is absolutely NO ambition or expectation of progress (ie Burnley) or complete basket cases where all he has to be is a safe pair of hands and basically be a "Jimmy Case" manager. at the moment Forest seem to fit BOTH criteria!

This just SUCH the WRONG APPOINTMENT for a club like Forest. They should be able to attract a much better quality of manager than this. reminds me of the appointment of Martin Hinshelwood.......

I bet the Forest fans cannot believe this rubbish is coming their way................

Excellent summation ma'am.

You missed off the chavvy gold chain, though.
