[Albion] Cost to be a mascot in the Premier League....

Appears, at least as of 2023 and therefore post COVID, there are still two free juniors, which I know is what some of those listed as being free do too.

If others want to pay for a guaranteed experience, then why not. But appears we do offer both 🤷

About half of my son's (u10s) team have done this. Leads to a bit of pressure on the rest of us sadly.

Some of them who've done it have barely even been to any other games.

didn't we do this before? some clubs charge for a day out package you can plan for, with kit, tickets, food, etc. others have a lottery you may or may not ever get a chance to run out.

Should be free.
Disappointing that Brighton are ripping kids off
Please, spare the faux outrage. It’s a rich man’s sport in every way including the kids. Has been since way before any of ‘em were born. Parents wanting this for their kids aren’t exactly in short supply so why not generate an income from? It’s not as if it’s the kids paying!!! And the parents can’t wait to brag about on social media so frankly who gives a…?! :) Well play PBOBE I say!

This feels like money the club could probably afford to go without to me

Albion , btw , have now charged for mascots since at least 2017/18, always had a lottery for 2 x free spaces, and its more than just walking out onto the pitch. (pacakge of kit, food, tickets, whole day , photo). There have been several threads on it before eg:

It’s another massive con like the cost of kids tickets and kits. I’ve just shelled out £250 for 2 kids kits with names and numbers on the back for Christmas. Makes me sick.

It’s absolutely disgusting, these are the next generation. The mascot thing should be free, kids tickets and kits should be at least half the price they currently are.

We do so much right as a club but I have a massive issue with this and I really think we let ourselves down when it comes to kids. It’s a drop in the ocean compared to the massive money thats sloshing around the club from transfer fees and TV money. They don’t need it.

The avergage age of the crowd at the Amex gets older ever season and that’s not going to ever change as families can’t afford to take kids these days. We’ll have a very small fan base one day.

And all the mens packages have sold out for the rest of the season. I guess they could have sold them many times over.
The women packages are nearly all sold out as well.

My eldest has done it. I don’t think it’s bad value. A full kit and 2 west stand adults seats plus the kid’s seat. That’s over £200 already without the experience.if you have season tickets and put them on the ticket exchange that will bring a chunk of the money back as well. It was worth every penny for the memories. And 2 kids get drawn at random every week from the junior seagulls or whatever it’s called now to do it for free.

I’ve often wondered- how do you get to do it for away games?

Do you have some evidence for your claim about the the average age of the crowd getting older every season? (I mean statistically that is surely fairly likely anyway!?)

Also, have you not discovered DHGate yet? I got 4 kits with names and numbers for £140 in the Summer. Can’t tell the difference between them and the originals.

I get numerous foreign club replica kits every year for the boys courtesy of our friends in China but for some stupid reason, I refuse to do it with Brighton kits out of some naive loyalty to the club. Mug.

Just have a look around the Amex on a matchday. It’s glaringly obvious. Admittedly most Premier League grounds are like it these days but ours is a particularly middle class, middle aged fan base. And no, I wouldn’t expect it to be getting older, surely you’d expect it to stay similar - as an older generation moves on, a younger generation replaces it. But if you’re not attracting families and kids as it’s not affordable, eventually the fan base will dwindle.

Club income was £204m the season before Europe. Match day mascot is one area that shouldn’t be about another income stream. For the simple reason that it should equally affordable for all families, at £nil.

Praise for the clubs doing that.

I used to be the same re loyalty to the Albion. Then I realised how risky that was with the amount of money I spent with them.

I really don’t think you’re right on the second point though. I think our fanbase is growing quicker than ever, and I’ve never known so many kids support the Albion before. To suggest that the Albion are not attracting families and kids is nonsense. Every other kid playing football in the park in Sussex has a Brighton shirt on. The Amex is absolutely full of families and kids.

Statistically the age should stay the same. Turnover will mostly come from older fans passing on, and newer fans replacing them will generally be youngsters.

It’s not something I pay too much attention to, but the family stand tickets are decent value, aren’t they?

My point is that a kid and his parents from the wrong side of the tracks (poor) have the same opportunity as the businessman’s kid.
