I recall there used to be two free juniors picked for home games (not sure if still the case) and the away mascot was free as my boy was selected out of a hat a few years back for Old Trafford and was also given a free kit.

Only two mascots for Man Utd.

We do seem to have an awful lot of mascots for home games... Practically a squad warming up on the side lines!

I appreciate there are costs involved for the club (kits, safeguarding - chaperones and staff etc) but surely we should be absorbing these relatively nominal costs. I think that’s really poor. Can someone defend this with something I’m missing?

Amazing the difference I've noticed on the box.

Whilst the kids are queued up in the tunnel awaiting their heroes, the approach from players varies so markedly.

Some engage in smiley, happy conversation with the lucky youngster, whereas some barely take time to acknowledge their presence on their big and possibly expensive day.

That twonk captain of Man Ure didn't even look at the girl in the tunnel at Ipswich, let alone offer a smile.
Miserable prick.

I know what you mean but everyone is different in how they get focused to go into an intense match situation. Some might like to be relaxed, chatty, if it helps them on the pitch, others like to be riled up Adrenalin pumping, others are just in their own headspace. I don’t think unless the player is being a proper bellend there’s too much to read into this

Who really cares? Parents that pay for this privilege can afford and there’s no shortage of so why not milk that particular cash cow. 22 x £330 per match is a nice little earner!

My lad did the Mascot package just before COVID. It was absolutely fantastic and worth every penny. Think I paid £220 but for that you got full kit, seat in the West (plus adult one to go with it if memory serves), trip round the museum, photos and an experience he will remember for life.

He walked out with Davy Propper. Dan Burn and would you believe Troy Deeney (we were playing Watford) who were both equally great with the kids.

I've spent a lot of money on a lot of shit Albion experiences over the years. That wasn't one of them. Given I'd paid £200 not long before that for him and his mates to go to a soft play centre (I did get free orange squash with that) I know what I consider the better value of the 2.

It is strange getting people to pay for it. Maybe a draw every week of junior seagulls members.. thing is, i'd love my granddaughter to do it and so would she but she is only 3 at the moment but I'm sure I would be happy to pay and jump the lottery when she is 5 or something. Can you imagine how many would be in the lottery for united, City etc?

Edit: see above!
