So far I am confirmed in my belief that re-makes are never satisfactory. The original version in 1953 was much superior even though it was in black and white.

I didn't realise it was on this early. I took a look on the BBC and tuned out again to comeback to football. As @Icy Gull says, I have too many memories from being a youngster about such things. Although my parents became wary about my attendance at such things. In 1973 we went on a coach to London for a choir service, the first hymn came up, everyone rose, and I threw up over the poor bloke in front in his best bib and tucker.
