How can a team that get so many corners be so SHIT at them.

I've come to the conclusion corners aren't TOTAL FOOTBALL enough for Gus.

I'd like to know if we practice them at all.

Have we scored from a corner this season?
Dunk and Greer never look threatening at corners, maybe because the delivery is awful each time! Anybody would think Dean Cox is still taking corners!!

We have had 74 corners in the league this season and can only remeber the one goal. This was the set piece where we try to squeeze it past front post. Think it was Mackail Smith who benefitted infront of north stand.

We've scored from two haven't we? one at Bristol City and the other against Blackpool at home where it was Greer who back heeled it at the front post and Barnes tapped it in. I think that is our best corner and the one we will benefit from the most considering the lack of height we have.

indeed we do have a lack of height , so i think we should play it short to get a better angle on the ball . admittedly we did try this last night but we should try this but with Vicente whipping the ball in . the type on ball that just needs a flick to guide the ball home.

Nearly all the set pieces this season appear to be a total let down. Not much imagination in the free kicks either, the few times we have tried something different it has not worked. Poyet has given everyone a chance to prove themselves this season to see if they can step up and only a small number from last season have done so. I personally cannot wait for El-Abd to come back to give Albion some much needed steel in the defence

As you seemed to be a "statto" can you tell me the number of goals scored at each end this season? I sit at the south end and it just seems we only score at the north end !!, not true I know but guessing far more are scored to the north ?

Not just corners, set pieces from out wide in general.
When was the last time an Albion centreback scored from a corner or free kick ? Is there really ANY point even going up for them ?

1) Vicente didn't play, Harley wasn't on for most of the corners.

2) We also have a pretty small squad compared to most teams in this league.

3) We are also playing at an extremely high standard of football where slack marking is much less usual than it is in the lower leagues.

Conclusion: It's not rocket science.

I don't think the delivery is the problem, it's just we never get a head on the ball when it swings in. That said Mr Dunk had a b-e-a-uty of a chance against Hull but managed to delicately cushion wide of the goal :(
TBF we were never going to get much joy against their colossal squad last night!

I always get excited when we win a corner.

I have absolutely no idea why.
