As I've written before, I have a Boro-supporting mate who reckons the Riverside has never been the same since they filled in the corners and added 5,000 seats.

They've never filled 35,000 seats regularly (even in the Premier League), so fans are spread out, and the atmosphere is crap.

Amazing that that the stadium cost just £16m - the kind of figure Man City spend on an average midfielder.

We can't fill a stadium of 8850 so what makes you think that a stadium of nearly 23000 is not big enough?
Absolutely. All the season ticket threads on here prove that there is absolutely no demand for a stadium anywhere NEAR that size. The club are apparently going to give away 3 spares with every ST bought just to get the numbers up! Not that there are any takers apparently and the club are desperately trying to find new ways to entice fans in. There will probably be a small increase due to the 'Falmer Factor' but next season there will be 12000 tops rattling around that white elephant, even less in subsequent years.

You normally post sensible stuff on here, but that is the stupidest post I've ever read by you. 12,000 with all the work that's being done by the club to bring back the lost fans across our 'enormous' catchment area, the direction this club are (hopefully) going in on the pitch, the players we have and will be able to attract with that amazing stadium. You seem to have it in your head that it will all come to nothing and seemingly nothing will sway you from your antiquated stance that because we had 9k at the Goldstone when pushing for the top flight and because we have shite crowds at Withdean this is somehow relevant to what will be at Falmer in 2011.

Go watch Palace Brovian, you may as well give up on the Albion now.

It's a valid point. We had relatively few 30,000+ crowds at the Goldstone, and although football is 'the new rock and roll' and crowds in the Prem are big I'm not sure we could sell out a 30,000+ stadium every game. And a half-empty stand looks a lot 'emptier' than a half-empty terrace with the consequent depressing effect on the atmosphere.

Why don't they tarp off areas? I know the American football (soccer) teams that play in American football (gridiron) stadiums do that quite successfully.

EDIT: This one WAS a serious post!

How exciting... I've never been inside a 'white elephant' .

Oh, you don't happen to live next door to said white elephant perhaps?

Do us a favour and keep an eye on it when we are playing away...

Sorry, yes, ok, I'll go and watch Palace then. *Slopes of remembering that irony is hard concept to get over on NSC*

Thank you Titanic, Notters and Life after Bobby. Yes I was having a little sarcastic dig at 'Mr Misery' himself; I don't really think Falmer is going to be a massive white elephant.

The pitfalls of posting on forums and being (one's usual) flippant/sarcastic/ironic/dry humoured self without using the "ta da" of emoticons (which feel like the equivalent of canned laughter on sitcoms)

I understand the 'three corners' rumour to be untrue (no source as such, just idle gossip from a friend of a friend's hamster). Obviously access will be needed, but there are ways around this - just look at the 'garages' in the corners at Wembley.

Three of the corners can be filled in. One apprently not, so that vehicles can get inside the stadium if needed.

Anyone know which corner will not be filled in ?

Look for a post by Natterjack. He said 3 corners can be filled in and from memory it's the NW that won't be

So it's 22,500 when it opens. When we consistantly sell out and burst into the Premiership how much can we add to the Stadium with another tier/filling in the corners?

Will it be 30/35 or even 40k!!!
