I assume they spend a lot of time doing this in training (if they don't they should) so why can't they do it in the game?

The corners and free kicks are like the rest of the team at the moment not very good

Exactly. These dinked balls are just hopeless, and never lead to a goal. As OP says, whip it in with pace. We've currently got two centre backs who are excellent in the air. It's about time that one of our centre-backs got on the score sheet ...

... which reminds me, my programme indicates that Greer has scored a goal in the Championship this season. Anyone know where/against whom?

They have been woeful all season, surely this is an area we should be working on a lot in training given Dunk was our top scorer last season? Rather let Bruno take them seemed to be our only player who could cross the ball today.

Murphy clearly shouldn't be taking them that's for sure

Perhaps we need a coach with a bit more attacking experience. Soft lobbed balls give the attackers nothing to attack, judging by the fact the 'attackers' are all in the box waiting for the soft floated ball in suggests that is what they do in training, maybe CH needs a bit of assistance in that area.

Albion corners and free kicks rarely beat the first man. Must be costing us a shitload of potential goal chances. Think Murphy whipped in a low hard cross very late in the game, which was refreshing to see, but other than that it was another easy day at the office for the team defending against us. Really need to mix things up a bit, we're far too predictable at present.

A low hard cross is a wonderful idea - but not if it bounces to safety off the 1st. defender, as seems invariably to happen if ever we try to do one.
Surely we should be able to work out some good set-piece routines in training? We just don't seem to have any at the moment.

Too right, yesterday it seemed that none of our corners reached our players!

our set pieces have been crap forever (or what seems like it)

what is even more irritating is our inability to move about for the poor sods taking the throw ins - these are also woeful.

This is something that we were discussing at yesterday's game. From corners, the ball either hits the first defender or goes flying off to the opposite corner flag. With free kicks, it seems we over elaborate and allow the opposition to block the ball.

Sometimes it works if the ball is whipped in hard and low across the six yard box. It's hard to defend and a good chance it will be deflected into the net by a defender. Ouch! Didn't that happen yesterday?

Not convinced corners are all they are thought to be really as it's actually quite rare for goals to be scored from corners. I've been searching t'internet but can't find it now, but I read somewhere a while ago goals are scored from only 1 in something like 45 corners taken.

Our priority in the transfer window given injuries is in wide areas.
Could we not combine this search with a search for a dead ball specialist?

He's not scored this season. Scored twice last season, v Brentford (a) and Middlesborough (h)

We've got a dead ball specialist. Unfortunately, the rest of his game isn't good enough.

We seemed to be brilliant at these when Cullip, Watson, Carpenter and Zamora were in the team. There was a particularly clever routine I seem to remember with Cullip running in late. As these people are still at the club its a shame they can't pass on their know how - although I suspect this maybe down to Watson's and Carpenter's outstanding delivery then.
