Hardly likely - Evans is now the Rotherham supremo - bizarre move by him to think that Rotherham Utd had more potential than Crawley - what does he know that on-one else does?????

Rotherham have far more potential than Crawley, they are moving into a new stadium in the summer and will likely have 3x the support of Crawley and a bigger budget.

Very interesting ...wasnt he Blooms first choice?..

Who, Evans? :jester:

Bit of clever business by Creepy. Despite their success, they've struggled to get half decent gates. This appointment may boost their attendances? High profile name replacing a Pantomime Villain hated by many.

Evans has always had the persona of a dodgy spiv second hand car dealer which in turn may have put a few off attending? Not to mention, just about every fan in the country hates Evans. Rotherham best be prepared to be the new pariahs of football. Many of their fans are not pleased about this appointment.

How he never got a life ban from football after his creative accounting at Boston?

My theory is they will always be many Crawley people's 'second team' due to so many of them being 'sarf London expats' & following the likes of Chelsea, Palace etc. If the success is sustained that may change especially with the cost of attending the likes of Stamford Bridge etc.

I'll still never like them though. With Evans gone, I just won't dislike them quite as much.

They go in to the new ground in the summer iirc, which will allways at least double the attendance for the 1st season at least, look at the Amex selling out nearly every game for proof of that

Crawley had just under 4800 for the Crewe game on Friday with only 400 Crewe fans. I think gates will improve and if they get to Wembley via the play offs reckon around 15-20k will get tickets. (plastics i know, and I will be one of them)

That is Rotherham's average, playing in an athletics stadium in a neighbouring town. Hardly a fair comparison.

It's going to be a strange situation for the new manager, when appointed. having a high profile name in football as a director of football. Just how much influence will Coppell have?

i think Coppell will be the manager next season, Im not sure crawley can afford to have the luxury of both.

Crawley only really came onto my personal radar in the last two years and I disliked them intensely only because I disliked the bullying spiv of a manager they chose to employ. Now they have Coppell (although how long for is a real question?) I can stop disliking them and because I don't live in Sussex/Surrey I can drop Crawley off my radar completely again.

I think Coppell retired from management, hence Crawley have had to bring him in as Director of Football. I'm sure they'd have loved to have him as boss but he presumably doesn't want so much limelight and responsibility.

Perhaps this means they'll bring in somebody young and inexperienced to work under Coppell's tutelage. I can think of worse ideas

Why not announce him as manager now to get them through the playoffs?

Not sure, maybe because they had already announced that Brewster was doing it till the end of season? I quite like the idea of a young passionate manager getting the job with Coppell advising. A Charlie Oatway sort of charchter, but obviosly not CO.....
