Very rarely mentioned as a candidate for the top job, though. Surprising in some ways, as I have always suspected his tactical nous and knowledge of the game might be well suited to international football. I mean who would you rather have, Coppell or Allardyce...
Maybe the FA look at his Man City spell and think he might not cope with the pressure, but even if that was true that might be more an indictment of the media's attitude towards the England manager's job, than Coppell himself.
