In my defence, I was left unsupervised.

As somebody said on NSC before, we can easily get Pardew to take it - just let it be known that SC is actually interested in the job. Pardew will grab it without a second thought just to shaft his 'mate'.

It's interesting that the story says that they're shifting through applications. If the shortlist is from the applications then it seems that SC is interested in the job.

However, the story doesn't say that the shortlist has been drawn up from those who have applied.

Well...

The Evening Standard says that it's a shortlist of "four".

And "names" them as Alan Pardew, Paul Hart, Gary Megson, Steve Coppell and Iain Dowie.

I get the feeling that a newspaper that can't work out how many toes there are on the average foot may not be telling us the story.

The worse scenario I can envisage is that Pardew gets the West Ham job and then Reading come in for Stevie. :(

He quit man city pretty quick but that had to do with being to far from family and freinds(so my spy tells me).

Part from that he's pretty loyal.

He'll stay, its BS.

West Ham fans want an ex Hammer for the job!! Thank god he didn,t play for them in the past. If Steve Coppell goes I will be gutted and loose all respect for the man I,m sure that will not happen.

It's all speculation. He'll stay. He's proved how loyal he is with the Blackwell saga and he'll prove it again with this.

"Reading's Alan Pardew and Nottingham Forest boss Paul Hart are both building impressive reputations in Division One - and Gary Megson has already experienced promotion with West Brom.

Brighton manager Steve Coppell also has a good record outside the Premiership and Oldham's Iain Dowie was an early front runner with the bookmakers. "

If you read the article carefully it is clear that the Standard are guessing. They do not say the four on the shortlist are... they are just naming some managers who have been linked to the job or who currently have a good reputation in the Nationwide, hence the five instead of four.

What are Copell's current odds for the job?
