Coppell Got It Right About Leon Knight

I distinctly remember Steve Coppell being interviewed shortly after Knight had made an instant impact after signing for us and Coppell saying something like Leon must not get carried away and turn in performances consistently for a season, not half a season.

I think he was referring to past seasons at Huddersfield and Wednesday where he started off okay but faded. Coppell said that he needed to put in a consistent season to prove himself top class.


How true that is now. Knight should think back to what Coppell said back then and use it to motivate himself because as much as I hate to say it , Steve Coppell has it spot on so far.

Copell was the very major reason why LK stayed with us and didnt join QPR

At Wednesday Knight was excellent to start with until they changed manager. There was a clash of personalities and he was rubbish for the rest of the season. When he signed for us he stressed how important Coppell was in his decision and seemed happy playing for him.

Clearly he doesn't get on with McGhee and I think he will be on his way sooner rather than later. (probably to Reading). There was talk a few months ago about him being offered a contract extension but I haven't heard anything else on this.
