After his blatant pitch for McClowns soon to be vacant throne...and having been passed over shamelessly last time, NSC, I give you the next England Manager, Mr.Ex Albion and Palarse... Steve Coppell.

If Coppell couldn't handle the Man City job, do you really think he'd handle the pressure of the England job?

Yes,yes I do.

Calm, poised and unflappable, enough of this reactionary bollocks.

Then, after a couple of defeats and the tabloids dig out their old 'stories' about him, he'd jump ship again.
He's ideal for smaller jobs cos he can shun the limelight, but he wont want the pressure or the intrusion of anything bigger than Reading.

Don't get me wrong, i think he's a fantastic manager just can't handle the big pressure jobs.

Disagree, he is obviously up for it, don't forget that the situation at City was completely different then than now, he wants this and has placed himself front and centre in the media, he would have been sweating when Russia lost because he was going for it then and circumstances overtook him.

He is the best we have, gets his players focussed, and hes proved he is brave and determined, what else do you need?

McClaren was a mistake, we all knew it then and we surely know it now, why not give the right man a chance?

Mourinho would make the whole thing into a Circus.

Mourinho?! Your having a laugh, has much much much more sense than to take the England job. Very few managers ever recover from it, Sven being the exeption mainly because he did actually do a decent enough job and was a class club manager before.

But it wouldnt be anything as like as good as that! The Clowns would be Ferdinand and Richards, the Ringmaster would be Terry, and the bloke selling the hotdogs would be Frank.

Maybe it's not the managers fault, maybe, just maybe we really are crap at football and no one in the world would make any difference?

I worry about Coppout, because he proclaimed to his Reading players that they had no right to dream of playing in Europe - which basically said that if they did qualify Reading for anything, he would have to buy better players.

Wrong message to send, totally wrong. Those players are as entitled to as Real Madrid, if they get the team into Europe. They have every right to dream of making it, and to play once they do.

Coppell just doesn't have big enough dreams, and so I have to call him out of his depth as England manager.

It can't be Venebles, and he was conspicuous in his absence tonight too.

Pierce, probably.
