Mrs RL and I are dabbling our toes into the property market for the first time in 30 years, and are looking for a decent solicitor / conveyancer to guide us through the legal mire. Anybody got any advice / recommendations please?

Might be a bit out of your way but Bennett Oakley in Burgess Hill are supposed to be decent (Sarah Rowland or Simon Elliott).

IMHO do not go with any of the on-line ones! Cheap and defiantly not cheerful. If you want somone to guide you through chap called Ian Gilbert in Hove is very good, however his fee's are are high, Naz or Dorrinda at Healys are very good.

Just do not bother.

You will start the process thinking that the estate agents are the cretins of the process.

However once the solicitors go out of their way to delay each other, for some perverse sense of one up man ship, whilst adding to your bill, you will realise they are the true problem of a property purchase.
