As Gus has said, there's no point looking at new contracts until we know which division we will be in. The players know this is the position.

End of. Revisit in May.

Brezovan Reluctant release, we spent £200k on Walton to be our number 3.
Ankergren Keep as number 2, Kuszczak plays when fit so we can spend the money elsewhere.
Greer Depends on the plans for Upson. Can you keep him to be back up? I would rather we signed two new centre backs in the summer.
Dunk I would keep but look to loan out next season to get him some regular first team football. He is ready.
El-Abd I love El-Bomber but the time has come I'm afraid. If we want to progress, we need to progress. He's a Championship centre back, but Premier League?
Bridge Keep if we can get a deal done which suit us both. If not, tough to replace.
Upson I would keep him if we can, and look to partner him with Virgil!
Hammond Tough one. Very tough. Depends on other options available, he does a job but I'm not convinced he is what WE need.
Calderon No question at ALL. Mr Versatile, he stays. If he is ambitious in his career perhaps he needs to move to be first choice but contract offer deffinitely.
Bridcutt We know he is staying, and rightly so. He will play every game and that is how he will continue to improve.
Dicker Another difficult one, I know a lot of people will disagree, but I think he does something different and is another option. I would release though!
Lopez 3/4/5 year contract, the man is THE man.
Vicente Another 1 year deal on the same terms I reckon, but I doubt he'll stay this time sadly. Been a pleasure.
Hoskins No. Release. Done nothing for us but get injured, moan about the shirt and not take his chances. We need to upgrade our attack.
Barnes Massive call. Absolutely GIGANTIC. Arguments both for and against, and I would be in favour. But then I want to buy a shirt with Ulloa 9 on it...

Work to be done in the summer by Gus and the boys, the framework is there but it needs gentle tinkering.

That old chestnut. Nothing like forward planning.

Plus the situation with contracts is irrelevant. If we don't go up this year we can probably see the back of Bridcutt and maybe even Poyet as next year his job will be harder competing with relegated clubs with a parachute payments which make our budget look like a 5 year olds pocket money compared to the salary of Carlos Tevez.

Brezovan Keep.
Ankergren Keep. I can't see us getting anyone better to sit on our bench in the championship. Keep one of the goalies if we reach the prem.
Greer Keep.
Dunk Keep.
El-Abd Keep
Bridge Hopefully he will want to stay.
Upson Attempt to get a one year contract for him.
Hammond Sign him if in the championship but not in the prem unless we can't find a better back up.
Calderon Keep him until he retires then offer him a coaching job.
Bridcutt I think he signed a new contract earlier in the season.
Dicker Keep in the championship. But he will probably want to go somewhere in which he is a regular starter.
Lopez Keep.
Vicente Keep.
Hoskins Keep. See what he can do when he gets over his injury.
Barnes Keep.

Pretty sure Dunk has signed long term contract as well and Barnes has activated an extension due to number of appearances according to the Argus. Expect there are similar clauses with a lot of those players.

agree but reckon upson is a keep at the right price ........vicente can go mate ,waste of time and energy and @ 15 k a week....honestly don't see him giving a shit. svd would be nice , as would danny murphy and jordan rhodes from b'burn if they drop ...if we end up going up then there will have to be wholesale changes.....ie the works.

Why should next year be harder competing with relegated parachute payment teams, I can't see there will be any difference to what we have coped with this season.

To all you Vincente out brigade, How many of you have seen him play to make that assumption ?

For one thing, the parachute payments are greater. For another, I doubt all three relegated teams will be as spectacularly badly managed as Wolves and Blackburn have been this year.
