Has anyone had the roof of their conservatory replaced with a solid roof and if so, has it made a difference?

Also, any recommendations for any local firms that do the work.

Cheers in advance.

Unless you put plenty of sky lights in you’ll be disappointed at how dark your space has become, also I might be wrong but you’d need to check the load bearing walls can take the weight of the new roof?

Maybe you want to consider replacing it with an Orangery ? Which would still have the light and also have proper roof support.

Roof support shouldn't be a problem as three sides are brick walls and the replacement roof is not the weight of a normal tiled roof, probably not dissimilar to the weight of the current glass roof.

Don't want to go down the route of replacing the whole building due to cost.

My out-laws did just that, will ask who they used.

They seem very happy with the result.

We replaced our polycarbonate roof with a glass one about 4 years ago best decision we have ever made, couldn't bear to lose all that light and put a solid roof on.
