He is not ready to be our starting striker unfortunately we are so light in that department he will be. Everton defenders will be in for an easy afternoon, I hope we have a plan B.

The point stands.

agreed I would stick with Connolly as long as he cleans up his off field antics which seem to be attracting the wrong attention and might be the source of his on field issues. Thought he was ok against Watford only had one shot and that was a quick stab rather than have time to set himself. Over hit it but was in the right place and created it by his hassling..

How many more chances is this guy goin to get before we realise he just isn't going to be good enough. If he starts against Everton alone upfront we are in trouble, I would rather have zequiri or even ferguson, unless he's related to mick. I know it's been done to death but still needs mentioning. Kind regards rebel

Juniors second account?

Brighton factually.....

Absolutely nailed it...

"Doyle feels that on the pitch, Connolly could take the simple option more often, and also add some more defensive alertness to his game.

"With Ireland, he's always trying to take someone on and put it in the top corner," said Doyle.

"That's the feeling, but you'd just like him to do the simple thing, one out of three times. Just take a simple option, a simple pass.

"I do think that out of the ones who play [up front for Ireland], he's the one that it takes him a second or two to switch on defensively.

"It seems to be, 'Oh, I've got a job to do as well'. The others seem to be a lot more tuned in that way. It's not something that comes naturally to him"

Do not agree yes he has played but he will never make it . In 2 years time will be at Crawley

44 games in the PL means that he is a PL footballer - opinions as to whether he's a good PL player (or a bad one) do not alter the fact.

I’m guessing an awful lot now we’ve cleared the decks of the majority of his competition and not signed anymore better, especially if Maupay joins Welbeck in the sickbay on a more regular basis.

I agree but sadly he will not. Like we all keep saying this is madness by the club to go with Maupay and Wellbeck and him

And to loan out Zeqiri and now Sima (who has scored in the Europa League after all).
Of all our young players it is Connolly who should be going out on loan. He is so far off mentally and physically.
I have no idea what he does in training but he must put in a serious shift.
What happened against Spurs was a freak. A combination of a shambolic Spurs team and their underestimation of an unknown player.
I'm all for backing our players but he has been backed- way more than Ostigard. Way more than Zeqiri. Way more than Molumby etc.
Honestly, we'd be better off playing Duffy up front.

Do you think either Welbeck or Maupay are good enough to start or do you not rate them. Genuine question.

Also we are not ALL saying it.

Any fans not worried about should be! I think when both fit of course both Maupay and Wellbeck are good enough to start.

Ok a question for you Wellbeck gets injured out for 7 weeks Maupay then gets injured out long term. We are then left with a player that is simply not good enough for this level of football.

We were crying out last year for a top striker . Lots of pundits etc said the same to not address the issue is madness and your correct not every one thinks that but a lot do. Only time will tell
