Is there another top national division, with a single club having several times the income and crowds of clubs 2, 3, 4, etc? I doubt it.

Scottish football in all ways is at an all time low, and for the rabble of green and white to celebrate as if they are world beaters, is just a further embarrassment.

This quite rightly has got very little media coverage, other than from the p.c. BBC Sport who feel they have to equal airing to achievements in proper football in England.

It was all pre planned with rangers, so the both teams can make their way into the English leagues.

Anyone think it would be better if Celtic did join the English football league, and as a by-product, the SPL actually became competitive? I know it's been spoken about a lot of th years, but what is the point of the SPL now, surely?

The point of the SPL is to keep Celtic and Rangers in Scotland - where they need to stay.

To be fair to Celtic some of the other teams in the division have some pretty impressive resources. Ross County's Victoria Park ground is now a 6 thousand capacity all seater super stadium , which can accommodate more people than the entire population of Dingwall, the town it's in. Man U don't have to contend with that sort of mega club in the the Premier League.

Perhaps Celtic should try and win it next year by just fielding 10 players, or playing with a blindfolded keeper, or always agreeing to score an own goal within the first 60 seconds - something novel and fun.

The demotion of Glasgow Rangers was the beginning of a very slow road downhill for Scottish Football. The loss of Rangers means a drop in gate revenue for all concerned. The loss of Rangers means the loss of TV revenue ( the Old Firm clashes were always televised to a wide audience ) It was bad enough when it was a two-horse race. Now its a one-horse race, interest will wane even more. Sponsorship will be harder to find.
The better players will make their way south of the border.
It was struggling before the decision to demote Rangers. They have now signed their own death warrant.

With that American Football thing, am I right in saying the the NFL mix up the league after each season and the Super Bowl winners get last pick of the best players. Maybe The Scottish champions (whoever they might be each year ;) should give half their players away on loan. Or something.

You could apply that to the EPL borefest as well.

Gonna play Devil's advocate for a minute here: We talk about "competitive" - Celtic won the League by 25 points but are the battles for the title in the Top 5 other leagues any more competitive?

Man United - Winning by 13 points
Bayern Munich - Winning by 20 points
Barcelona - Winning by 13 points
Juventus - Winning by 11 points
PSG - Winning by 9 points

Even in the Championship, Cardiff have been Top since November!

Yes they are 20 is five less that 25, 13 is 12 less etc etc.

Seriously though i think the point is that the Scottish Prem has been dominated by the Auld Firm for a ridiculous amount of time. At least the other leagues have had a bit of chopand change.

Against all odds, with a budget 10x that of the competition, the coaching and management skills of genius Lennon got them over line.

As Kris Commons stated on 5live earlier .... Lennon is just a winner and a really nice guy.

Tonight Commons and Co must feel 10 feet tall ..... Champions, of the most lopsided division in world football. Wow.

Isnt Bayern 20+ points ahead in their league? That be a bit more lopsided

From Celtic's viewpoint what more can they do than win the cups and go on a Champions League run? They can't make an honest club out of Rangers and they can't do anything about the wealth or support for the other SPL sides.

And what are the options? Participating in England is a non-starter.

I do feel some sympathy for Scottish football because it looks like a total joke from the outside but actually Scotland is a proud footballing nation.

I don't have the time, but I'd really like to know what the SPL would look like if all Celtic's opponents so far had been given a goal head start in every game. Or even in just their home games? I'd bet they still win it if all home games were started with the opponents a goal up, not so sure about if you applied the same to their away fixtures.

If Celtic are ever allowed in the English League, then they should be made to start in the fourth division. Reckon they would struggle in the Championship.
