Confirmation Vicente has signed! [Season 1: 2011]

I reckon be wouldn't be the outstanding player in our current team. Competing for a first team place, but not a nailed on selection. Not saying he wouldn't be worth having, it's just a comment on the absolute leaps and bounds we've made in the last decade.

The obvious comparison is Lallana. Played for CL clubs and for a strong national team. Had a few injuries and clearly feeling the effects, but is obviously a cut above on the ball in tight spaces. Lallana looks good for us, but imagine how he'd look against Championship opponents every week. Same with Vicente I reckon.

Vicente is the best player to ever play for the Albion.

What a talent he was. Shades of Lallana in the way he could carry the ball and the footballing intelligence, vision but he had a different dimension to his game. His shooting and crossing was on another level.

The one that almost was. That shot off the crossbar after ghosting past a few flailing championship players, what a goal that would have been.

Vicente is the best player to ever play for the Albion.

No doubt. Or certainly the best calibre of player, anyway. He could only do it for 15 mins at a time so probably does a disservice to some to call him our best ever. But we've never had a player close to a fully fit Vicente playing for us.

He was probably the best player in terms of the levels that he played at an earlier stage of his career, but I don’t think that 2011-2013 Vicente was better than many of the current team. Don’t forget that he played for us at a lower level. Imagine the carnage players like Trossard, Bissouma or Lamptey would create in the Championship.

Although a Vicente in his prime would probably still get in our current first XI.

What a bizarre and incredible signing he was.

The comparisons to Lallana absolutely boil my cabbage. It's ridiculous and needs to stop. Vicente was unique, I doubt we'll ever see such a talent in our team again.

The slight difference for me is that Lallana wasn't at one time regarded as being one of the absolute best in the world in his position. Whilst AL has certainly had a great career at the top level, he's not on the same level as Vicente, IMO.
