Talking after the Yoevil game it came up in conversation that if we were looking at conference fooball when Falmer was ready what would happen?

With all the excitement of the go ahead for Falmer, I hadn't thought about this possibility.

If serious investment wasn't forthcoming how would we cope?

Has DK thought of this outcome and has he got a back up plan in place?

With our recent lack of consistent form a lack of desire on the pitch and an unproven manager it got me a tad apprehensive!

So we've lost two matches in a row, we're inconsistent on the pitch (as opposed to utterly shite) and you're now shitting yourself that we will have no investment in the club, no interest in the club and will be relegated twice in the next three years?

Blimey.

I really don't think we are conference material any more. In 95-97 perhaps there was reason to think we were, but with the current set up of the club there is no chance of such a drop.

That of course assumens the current board continue to be in place to finance the club at the level they do at the moment.

Just wait until we win two games in a row, then people will be worrying about whether we have enough room to extend Falmer up to 90,000, and whether we really have the infrastructure in place to challenge Manchester Utd.

I expect Leeds United have given some thought to this question as well.

Any advice, Starry? I expect you'll say "the crisis has blown over". In which case, I'll say (in relation to the Albion) "What crisis?".

There are some gloom merchants on NSC aren't there?

are you having a bad day tip top

Apologise if it came over doom and gloom as it wasn't meant that way!

Just that nothing is certain in football and have we got contingency plan if there is insufficient backing?

I don't think it will happen but it IS possible

I'd be delighted to see Conference football at Falmer. But I think Lewes FC will probably want to carry on playing at the Dripping Pan. Especially since Falmer won't be ready by next August.

We would surely be in The Blue Square Premier, so it wouldn't be all bad!

Taken from my daily reading of the Racing Post...

Non-league fans have often debated which level of Scottish football is comparable to the standard of the Conference.
But in terms of TV viewing figures it seems they might have been aiming too low.
Blue Square must be delighted with their sponsorship deal after early figures revealed that 118,000 Setanta viewers tuned it to see Exeter v York on August 20, while 117,000 watched the SPL game between Rangers and Kilmarnock five days later.

Interesting figures?

There are some people who will sit on their ever-expanding voluminous arses until they are wedged into their armchairs permanently. The only exercise they get is pressing the remote-control. They dribble into their Pot Noddle, muttering 'Setanta', like a chant to their High Priest of Digitalism. When they sleep (in their wedged armchairs), they dream of electric sheep-shagging.

In other words, it's the same people watching both games.

I was hoping Crawley would be there rather than Eastbourne. I really couldn't give a tuppenny f*** about Eastbourne personally. I've only been there once.
