It's an interesting reminder of what the Conference has become - and why NO league team would relish relegation.

For those who haven't been to a game at this level, give it a try next season if you can. There can be a lot of hoofing and scrappy play but there is generally a fair amount of action, and some occasional bursts of real flair and skill.

With teams like Eastbourne and Histon - which were essentially park sides a couple of decades ago - coming up against the likes of Luton, Oxford and Wrexham, it's also a real crossroads of football. The coming season could well be one of the best yet in the BSP.

They survived long enough as a League Club to get to play in the Fourth Division.

My grandad was a Gateshead supporter. I remember him banging on about the day in the 1950s when they played West Bromwich Albion in the fourth round of the FA Cup - in front of 40,000 home fans. So many people wanted to go to the game that they switched it to Newcastle United's ground. They beat Liverpool in the third round - so it was a good run.
