I have a few avi files that I want to convert and burn to a DVD so I can watch them on a DVD player on the telly. Anyone know of any (preferably free) software downloads that can do this?

Thanks TB:jester:

What kind of AVI files? "AVI" files can be one of ten million different formats, seriously...

Oh dear, haven't got a clue. The main one I want to do is an Eddie Izzar vide I downloaded. It's a Dvix avi video file - is that what you mean?

thats the important info right there, AVI file format is basically a wrapper for whatever codec is being used (in this case DIVX)

I *think* as long as windows media player can play the file, nero burning rom can conver it.

Recent versions of Nero or WinDVD Creator (think its called that, I'm on my BeOS box right now so can't check) will be able to burn that as DVD Video no problems.

I have a bit of software called DVDSanta which does exactly what you want. I think it costs $30 from what I remember. It won't work with Vista as far as I know but it's pretty handy otherwise. Just checked, it's now $9.99 and it does work.
