Loved the Level 9 text adventures.

Also M.U.L.E. - a space trading game IIRC

I must've been 10 or 11 when I got my Atari 2600 one Christmas, and my sister bought me Pitfall. God I loved that game. That and Asteroids. Barely left my room.

I finished it for you

Computer-games-from-the-1980s . . . . were shit

No, they were good enough to keep you amused a while but not good enough to stop you wanting to do other stuff like go out, unlike the current geek generation !

Nobody queued up at midnight to buy Matchday !

Bloody right, between FM20. Minecraft and The Witcher I am lucky to get anything done.

If Elite came out now it would still get rave reviews

Amstrad cpc 464. Treasure Island Dizzy. Oh yeh

I'm not normally one to gloat, but we had an Amstrad CPC 6128. I know, my dad was really flashing the cash in the 80s.

Gauntlet 2
Arkanoid

Really loved the Delta 4 'spoof' adventures, Bored of the Rings and The Boggit. The also did a version of The Colour of Magic I've just remembered.

Many of the big guns already mentioned.

I remember the coin-op conversion of Enduro Racer very fondly. The first time I played it and went over a hill I was amazed.

Academy.
Spent hours on this one. Really immersive 'world', bit like Elite, different missions and you could 'design' your own skimmer (I think they were called). Superb.

First game I ever played, I think. Was a bit not born for most of the eighties but my first console was the Sega Master System.

I've also played a shit ton of Tetris, one of the very few games that will always remain playable.

Possibly the same, this or the preinstalled Alex The Kidd on the Master System, my first console.

Also Double Dragon was the only game myself and my brother ever completed at the arcade. We must've pumped a whole tonne of pesetas into that "cyber cafe" on holiday.
