Computer browser help/advice....

Most of my bookmarks folder just disappeared from Firefox!

I am down to a half-dozen bookmark folders all of a sudden, and loads that I use and want to keep have just.... suddenly gone.

Anyone know how to find bookmarks, or maybe backtrack the browser to an 'earlier date'?

Happened to me once-got them back eventually. Something to do with Profile: check their help section 'cos I don't remember how I did it.

Use Foxmarks... and it stores a copy on an internet server for you!

or more helpfully... search your C: drive for bookmarks.* and see if there are any usable copies left on your system.

Its most likely that you've opened the browser under a different profile - and I can't remember how you access these.

I found 'bookmarks.bak' but "windows cannot open this file"
I can't see anything of the old bookmarks.

Specify Firefox to open it.

If the contents look reasonable.. rename it to bookmarks.htm and then close/restart Firefox.

Firefox issued an update last week. Has that caused it. Didn't affect mine though.

edit; I'm currently running 'chkdsk' to see what that does.

Have you checked under the table? Last time I lost something it turned out to be under the table.

Yep, one of the first things.

I am pissed off now, but it'll be worse when I want to access something that's always been simple as accessing that bookmark

OKAY! I found a bookmark 'file' containing all up to 2 days ago....... but....how do I get the whole lot back into my Firefox bookmarks again like they were before?
