Computer browser help/advice....

Most of my bookmarks folder just disappeared from Firefox!

I am down to a half-dozen bookmark folders all of a sudden, and loads that I use and want to keep have just.... suddenly gone.

Anyone know how to find bookmarks, or maybe backtrack the browser to an 'earlier date'?

Yes, I did try switching off and on again.

Happened to me once-got them back eventually. Something to do with Profile: check their help section 'cos I don't remember how I did it.

or more helpfully... search your C: drive for bookmarks.* and see if there are any usable copies left on your system.

(e.g. bookmarks.bak in a folder something like C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\o5kvjmbn.default)

I found 'bookmarks.bak' but "windows cannot open this file"
I can't see anything of the old bookmarks.

I'm ready to turn into Angry German kid at any moment, and I would much rather be Numa Numa.

Specify Firefox to open it.

If the contents look reasonable.. rename it to bookmarks.htm and then close/restart Firefox.

Yep, one of the first things.

I am pissed off now, but it'll be worse when I want to access something that's always been simple as accessing that bookmark
