What was the shop called located on the lower level of Churchill Square where you had to order your school uniform from?

Wasn't it Colts?

Is there an equivalent place today? It seemed to have a virtual monopoly back in the day.

And that also reminds me of the high-level bridge that went from the back of Churchill Square into the Brighton Centre; for a while they signposted it as a through route to the seafront.

It was called Cinescene at the end but prior to that it was called Princes, Jacey's and the Brighton Film Theatre (it was probably called something else before these but that was before my time). I loved the BFT, they showed some fantastically obscure foreign films.

In the 50's it just used to show cartoons and newsreels. Blowed if I can remember what it was called then.

Nah, it wasn't a monopoly; we had to get our uniform from Potters (opp St Peter's church) or Hornes (can't remember where that was). Probably each school had a favoured supplier or two.

The official outlet for Falmer High School uniform (only ever ordered by innocent new pupils) was upstairs in Hornes (now Bench).

I was on the Palace pier watching with my gf (now my wife ) First thing I thought was it was part of the display and musing that I didn't know they had two pilots

The noise of the jet was so loud you couldn't hear the splash the other side!

One of the biggest disappointments of my childhood. We went to see a Disney film there. I was expecting a Disney classic. We saw Fan-bloody-tasia. I felt robbed.

Anyone remember The Birds Nest? Disco/Pub
Back in 1972 it had a late night supper license and you could get a drink after 11 pm but you had to buy a ham sandwich with your pint. It had a coloured lighted dance floor like in Saturday Night Fever.

On the other hand I've always considered the red arrows incident to be lucky: got to see something you don't see very often (!), survived having a pilot-less jet aircraft heading almost straight for, the pilot was virtually unharmed (I think) - and I ended up marrying the girl I was with

My Mrs( Ex Plymouth Ave L Bevendean) didnt think the 11 and 12 were blue busses even though that picture is definately a blue one! Certainly the 49 was a blue one!

Anyone remember the theater along the back of the West Pier.

Also Club Papillon under the Royal Albion..

The Missus is correct Dave. the 11 was originally in Brighton & Hove Red and cream colours. The 12 as now is the Brighton to Eastbourne route originally run by Southdown , green and cream colours.

Depends when you're talking about. The 49 used to be a Corporation-run dark red bus but I think that stopped some time in the mid-70s.
