After much help from various NSCers, I've been able to track down this wonderful match. One of the things I got from this is what an amazingly skilful player Steve Penney was.

Oh yeah, and check out the 'studio room' with drawn curtains!

I'm always on the look-out for vintage Seagulls footage to share with other fans. If you have anything in your collection from the 1970s and 1980s, please PM me, and I can send you a Special Delivery envelope to post any items for me to encode and upload.

there was a game, i think it was on tv, versus Mansfield it was either the 3-1 or 5-1, where Wardy picked up the ball with his back to goal on the half way line, jinked past the three defenders that were left back to mark him, then took the ball round the keeper and rolled it into the empty net. I would love to see this again if anyone has a copy.

"And now's Connor's through, can this be two....... it is!!. Unbeliveable"

One of my earliest memories of football commentary!

One of those "Is this really happening, lets go f***ing mental moments!"

Those were the days!:D

He did!!

Connor got the second a minute later, hence, and COnnor's thorugh can this be TWO

One of the most exciting, if not the most exciting, things about watching football is a centre-forward bearing down on goal from thirty yards out, having escaped the centre-halves, with only the goalie to beat!

Happens so infrequently, but always gets the crowd on their feet :p

What a team we had then............and that was a Div 2 team! Plus there was Robinson and Lawrenson playing for Liverpool.

Oh to have a back four like Gatting, Foster, Young and Hutchings........as for the midfield Penney, Grealish, Smillie and Wilson and Ryan & Connor up front (and Jimmy Case wasn't even playing!!). What we would do to have just two of those players today.

Those were the days!

You mean this one?

I thought it was against Mansfield, but I got corrected, and it was against Chester.

I just wanted to acknowledge dougdeep for his generosity in supplying me with the DVDs. I will post them back at the start of next week.

I find it wonderful to explore the golden age of our club. Anything else you know that it out there?

If anyone has the Liverpool 1983/Newcastle 1979 DVD that was doing the rounds about two years ago (as on this thread Liverpool/Newcastle DVD's - order thread - North Stand Chat ) please PM me. Many thanks!

That was a great match - I remember loads of "Aldershot Reds" getting on the train at Redhill with us and giving us loads of grief about how many Liverpool were going to rattle past us !!
It was a bit of a rarity in that the match was on a SUNDAY - and matches were normally on at 3pm on a Saturday then. Now, 25 years on, that I have seen the Albion playing on every day of the week it does not seem so unusual

I have this on DVD, superb.

The Big Match theme tune is actually INCREDIBLE. I want this as my ringtone.
