.....game at The Withdean

Both against London based teams.

(No this bit was wrong.)

A win was vital ?

er....the floodlights were on.

Both games were in April.

any more.......

Darlington were the last team to beat us at the Goldstone in 96/97 before the unbeaten run that saved us.

Differences: 1. I had a really good view of the Barnet game. 2. I was sad. 3. The football was dreadful.

The Barnet game was my last ever game at the Goldstone and the way its going (unless I can get a Hudds ticket somehow) tonight will be my last at Withdean. I'd quite happily take the same result.

On a big night the Goldstone used to crackle under the lights, Withdean doesn't quite match it.

It was the Barnet game. It was my first and last game watching from the south west terrace, which meant I'd watched a game from every part of the ground, before they knocked the old girl down.

Apologies if I stood in your place after you'd been watching in that spot for years!

Barnet along with Wigan at home the game after were probably the best atmospheres I can remember at a home game. Doncaster wasn't quite the same as the match was a more poignant farewell although the 3 points were crucial.

I'm certain the Barnet manager said after the game that is the best atmosphere he has experienced outside of Anfield & Old Trafford - High praise.

I'm sure the North Stand sucked the ball of Ian Bairds belly (a horrible thought) into the net.

And again if anyone has a spare ticket for tonight 07876631391.

The Barnet game. 1st April 1997

1-0 Baird Att. 9525

Classic game, I can still picture Baird on his knees chesting it in right in front of me and the North stand going ballistic.

I still can't believe there was only 9500 in the ground that night, the North way way more packed than the Donny game a week later

See previous threads / posts / comments concerning players' bonuses which were triggered by plus 10k crowds. It's not just the fans who were ripped off by the pond life running the club then.

There simply is no comparison.

The Goldstone evening was depressing because of the uncertainty of the situation we found ourselves in.

Tonight is albout looking forward with anticipation and excitement.

The only comparison I can think of is the potential for a pitch invasion but for very different reasons.

One to protest again, the other to celebrate!
