This is true, but I am pretty sure the verse is not linking every evil to money specifically. It might depend on what translation you use...........

What about malapropisms? As well as catachresis, these mishearings are also known as Mondegreens. I have a book called that, which is full of the sort of examples quoted in this thread. It's called "Mondegreens, A Book Of Mishearings" It's a fun read, if you like that sort of thing - I do

My worst one up until the age of about 18-19 was I thought it was Pre Madonna instead of prima dona.
I always wondered what she'd done that was so special that all others before her did that made it a a pivotal point in history. I was such a div back then.
Not sayings but words.
It's Scapegoat not Scrapegoat or Escapegoat (as I heard a chap once say)
It's Tenterhooks not Tenderhooks.
But I think the most important thing, as was already pointed out, is that it is the LOVE of money - not money itself.
Hmm. I agree the verse is saying that. But people often leave out 'all kinds' which assigns the love of money to being behind every evil when with 'all kinds' it means lots of different sorts, but crucially not every sort. But I think the most important thing, as was already pointed out, is that it is the LOVE of money - not money itself.
I have a colleague who deals with Pacifics instead of specifics.
May I say the two are oceans apart.
I'll get my coat.
