Never really got Porridge. Don't particularly like Fawlty Towers much either. FT just about edges it, but really neither are in the class of the Office, Blackadder or Partridge

FT for the scripts just edges out the superior characterisation of Porridge, both a country mile ahead of UK sitcoms of the past few years.

My Family anyone? No I didn't think so.....

Every time I watch them, which is probably every couple of months, I still laugh as much as I did first time round.

Seems a bit harsh to pair these 2 together, as they are probably both in the top 5 British sitcoms of all time. However, given that I regard Fawlty Towers as the numero uno, that gets my vote.

As said earlier I was lucky enough to see an outside shoot taken...for you TV boffins....anyone know where this building was and what it was used for....and what's there now....? Inside shots were studio takes...

Very sadly the hotel was burned down in 1991 ( this was used for the outside filming ) and was actually in Buckinghamshire.

I have the definitive book on FT by the BBC but at the moment another FT nutter has got it.
