*sigh* But as has been said before, blacks had been an oppressed minority in the USA for years, to the extent that there has NEVER been a black president in the 400 years that the country has existed.

I'm finding it hard to believe you cannot grasp this very simple fact.

simster of course i grasp it mate,but there is either a level playing field where race is not an issue or there is not, they cant have it both ways.

Yes they can. For the time being. When it becomes clear that presidents are voted in for who they are across the nation, then I'm sure it'll be less of an issue over time.

No one is saying that voting on the issue of race is right and proper, but to most of us I would say that it is understandable for working class black people to find Barack Obama a more attractive vote than 72 year old wealthy white plumpoid John McCain and his goonish, creationist sidekick.

On the other hand, the white middle class majority can afford to and should make their choice based on non-racial issues, because they can afford to do so.
