They seem to have all sold out. 😟

I stupidly assumed getting the train would be an option, but apparently not in 3rd world Britain.

Bit of a longshot but does anyone know if there's any likelihood that more coaches may be put on / if there's a waiting list.

I think people are saying that train tickets to Liverpool are held back until closer to the game.
I may have misunderstood that though,

The boss of Avanti West Coast quit the other day after failing to provide a decent service. Manchester trains are down to one an hour now so assume the service to Liverpool is similarly limited. Maybe look at a different routing than just direct - for example a train to Crewe which is heading further up the West Coast and then a local service into Liverpool.

ST may put on another coach if there is demand so definitely worth emailing them as they will put you on a wait list if it is something they are considering.

So there's no direct trains from London ?

Or are they just fully booked ?

Note sorry seen post above. Does anyone know if trains actually sell out ? Or do they hold back space for getting on the day. In thinking specifically about the first one back to London from Liverpool after the game !!

Not worried about cost happy to buy on the day

I could find trains there for 124 quid, but couldn't get returns on the day. They say they're yet to be published.

The biggest issue was the massive list of caveats from the train company when you try. It says trains are subject to severe delays and last minute cancellations. I know a few people from Liverpool and asked them and they basically said Avanti West Coast and Trans pennines are a disaster (like Southern a couple of years ago).

Given the expense it just gave me no confidence I could do it.

Then to put a top hat on it Three Bridges to Victoria and back is a bus replacement service.

Way to much faff and uncertainty for me. So have just booked on the coach added on the link above instead.

Coach just has to be the sensible way to go for this fixture shirley? Slower l know, but at least it will take you virtually straight to the ground, and no faffing about changing trains, (and stations), in London either.

My 11 year old and I are taking a Seagulls Travel coach for the first time (since I went to the relegation part at Ipswich in 1998). Anyone got any feedback? Do they do sweepstakes or any games to keep people amused?

Seagulls Travel have only existed since we moved to the Amex in 2011. In 1998 it would almost certainly ahve been an official supporters club coach that you travelled on. I think Liz Costa and her friends ran the only supporters coach back then.

For the Leicester game on Sunday, tickets for the Avanti train from Birmingham to London that I needed to catch were shown as “unavailable to buy” until about four days before travel. Perhaps this was because Avanti didn’t want to sell advance tickets for a service that they thought had a significant chance of not operating. When they finally went on sale I took the plunge and had no problems with the journey.

They have no games or anything. Take your own entertainment/smart phone, most do hence it is very quiet. Sleeping is the biggest thing undertaken by most. Coach may have usb charger. Coach stops at M6 toll road services (expect to meet Liverpool coaches there as well), I'm sure drivers are on a backhander from services. At the ground they park very close plus the the Arkles pub is on the way.

Last time I went to Liverpool on a coach was the 2-2 Fa Cup game back in the early 90’s. Albeit it was The Gulls Eye Coach, which was quite a calm journey there and back if I remember correctly

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Train to Chester, then to Liverpool via the Wirral line?

A change at Warrington would probably mean having to go from Bank Quay to Central which might need a cab.
