The pro-CMS point to the fact that he hasn't been played to his strengths last season - well, what makes you sure that Poyet will suddenly change the style of play next season if he didn't last season. Seriously, what makes you think that next season Poyet will do things differently? I thought we had one way of playing, remember?
They also point out that some players take time to develop and get used to a style of play - this is true but the assertion that he will come right is as speculative as me saying that I don't think he ever will in this Albion side. Your opinion is just an opinion and mine is as valid. The one thing I can do that you can't though is bring hard facts into it as evidence.
26 for a Posh side in league 1 then...
11 goals for Posh in Championship then....
35 goals for a Posh side in league 1 then...
10 goals for Albion in Championship 10 goals
This level of football is not something CMS is new to and he really appears to struggle at this level.....and even when he is in a team playing to his strengths (ie Peterborough). And last year he was generally poor on the few one-to-one chances given to him last season. Yes, he has lots of energy and brings a different dimension from just an out-and-out striker but we have other players who have bundles of energy and can create a buzz (KLL, Noone, Vicente). He's our most expensive/highest-paid player and if he does not perform next season then his re-sale value will decrease dramatically. In my opinion, I think we should cut our losses, release that wage bill he costs us and get someone else in now.
I don't think he will go and therefore really hope I'm wrong about him but at the moment I just think I'm ahead of the curve in calling for him to go. I'm happy to be shot down on this but please can we have something a bit more grown up than the "shutup, you know nothing about football" bluster on this thread.

Keep him, hopefully find the right Target man for him and provide the neccessary service to him this season. CMS will be red-hot this season, if we can find those two important ingredients.

CMS is class and will score plenty of goals this season as will Barnes. We have some amazing players at the Albion and our main job as supporters is to get 100% behind the team, the manager, the chairman. I believe we are going to get promoted this season, but even if we don't I am still extremely grateful to be able to realistically dream that we might.

I played a half decent level of footy many years ago now and if I had to mark a player like him I wouldn't know where to go as he is the most hardworking player off the ball I have seen in twenty years

Hard to argue with that and as a rule the facts dont lie , saying that i would wager he covered more ground than the rest of the team put together last year , defends from the front and when we attack takes defenders out of the game by running to places no other Brighton player can figure out where he is , and thats the catch 22 problem concerning CMS imo , in his willingness to open up defences and make space he often takes himself out of the final attack by taking up curious positions around the area, this maybe a tactic from Gus to divert attention from whats really going to happen im not sure but thats what happens a hell of a lot.
I love watching the guy play football , his enthusiasm is second to none , he also has class and i think this poll and other mutterings of dissent are very premature to say the least , but looking at the scores on the doors it seems he is well respected by Brighton fans and must stay at this club then prove himself in the premireship with us in the 2013-14 season
