[Football] Clubs to Vote on VAR removal

The more complex you make any system, the more likely it is to fail. VAR has forced more complex definitions of the laws of the game and hey presto, every decision becomes more complex. Bin VAR. Hand ball goes back to being ball to hand. Offside becomes the Wenger Law (only offside if clear gap between defender and attacker) and is judged by on pitch officials and not VAR. Football goes back to being a contact sport where contact does not mean a foul. Players must make a clear attempt to stay on their feet otherwise a foul can not be awarded. So no dragging feet to initiate contact and no swan dives. If a player makes a clear attempt to stay on their feet then ref will judge where contact significantly impacted their ability to play the ball normally. All laws to be reviewed with a view to simplifying the game. Things like don't stop the game for subs (unless injury sub). Only captains can talk to ref (booking for non compliance). Once a free kick is awarded, the team against whom the freekick is awarded can not touch the ball in any way until play restarts.
Only thing i slightly disagree with here is the last point, as there may be no other player near the ball and it would therefore speed the game back up if the closest player can return the ball to the point of the free kick otherwise all very good ideas.

Needs something about the opposition having retreated far enough from the point of the free kick within so many seconds too, rather than being able to stand a couple of yards away and slow the quick counter attack down by preventing the ball being played forwards, or as quickly as the attacking team may like. Maybe punishable by a yellow card and the free kick moves forwards 10 yards (or half the distance to the penalty area if the free kick is less than 10 yards from it to start with)

Aside from how it is for the fans, I'd think that scrapping VAR would benefit the big clubs.

No surprise, it's staying. Only Wolves voted for it to go.

As expected the Wolves proposal to scrap VAR was one of the most unpopular in EPL history. PL clubs have voted 19-1 in favour of keeping VAR.

I think take the human referee out and have a similar thing to those robotic vacuum cleaners that just roam around the pitch and randomly blows the whistle every time it bumps into something. Better than some of the refs we've had this season

Wolves are a bunch of embarrassing clowns just trying to distract from their price gouging of their own fans

Would have been more interesting if Club's had delegated the vote to ST holders.

Now we can look forward to another season of balls-ups, analysed weekly on Sky.
As opposed to much more balls-ups by on-pitch refs. You think media will ignore mistakes just cos there's no VAR, I have a bridge to sell you

This can be upgraded. If the robot spots someone blatantly diving, it produces a laser and vaporises the player.

it just needs to be looking the other way if buonanotte is playing

make it so Mr dippy

Premier league statement saying there would be more errors without VAR.

Totally missing the point
I agree - fan communication must be improved. Which is why this entire debate about scrapping it is so mad, it's a complete distraction

I like your idea of vaporisation but think it a bit harsh, I think start with mild electric shocks for first offence. Also have a 10 metre static area around in case players try to harass the robot, not so easy to complain when your hair is frizzed and standing out at all angles.
I would however be in favour of random vaporisation for members in the VAR hub for every 30 seconds they take over a decision.

Please keep it. It allows me to think "thank god we said no to the VAR shit" every time I go to Allsvenskan games.

Indeed. Bit of a no-brainer.

Like saying "there would be more goals if we quadrupled the size of the goals". Sure, would certainly be the case. But would it be more fun? More tense?

An opportunity missed to light a fire under the PL and PGMOL. Howard Webb will be delighted to spend another 2 years pretending he's trying to improve.
19-1 and the 1 from a club at war with its fans - pressure needs to be placed on improving the system, calls to scrap it don't put pressure on anyone to improve it, it just creates large majorities in favour, as you say
