So nothing like the mass disorder I've seen on the news in the past?
Sums it up perfectly for me.
I have far more emotional investment in the Albion and our games than I do in anything to do with international football.

It's a sad endictment of the behaviour of England followers that soaking tourists minding their own business on a canal boat is deemed "nothing serious". Why on earth should anyone have to tolerate that bollox? And let's not forget, this is after decades of widespread disorder at the hands of morons who also have a good deal of blood on their hands.
And yet this is only half of why I struggle with England. The other half is the way England players have commanded absurd salaries and yet been absolute GASH for their country. Remember Wayne Rooney threatening to walk out on Man Utd and then getting a pay rise taking him to £200k a week? In what way did he justify that to the nation on the international stage? And he was no worse than average in this conduct - at least he bothered to play instead of picking up mythical injuries before friendlies.
All in all, there is nothing remotely warming about the England set up. Even the national stadium situation is depressing. Ken Bates insisted on it (rather than paying about 30% of the bill and putting it in the Midlands) and now the whole stadium is devalued with FA Cup semis and Spurs playing there etc. Depressing.
Unlike my club, a shining example of a well run likeable football club.

Even more so now we are Premier League. Why would I cheer on players that have cheated and dived against us in league games ( Ashley Young etc)

Club , i'm Welsh/Sicilian , so international football is hardly ever much fun to watch 
What I mean when I said " nothing serious " is I didn't see 200 lads throwing chairs in a city square.
Why isn't this beer throwing stopped on the concourse,? If these boys think it's ok to do this in a football stadium, they are going to do this in Amsterdam.
Like some other English people I hate it when posters turn up on England match threads just to say how much they don't care about England and international football. (I really must do the same on F1, tennis or baseball threads). I care, and I want England to do well and win.
But ...
I do have an element of sympathy with those who say they don't give a shit and that the England football team means as much to them as, say, the England women's hockey team. I really struggled to watch the Italy game, and I was out on Friday night so not only did I miss the Holland game, I didn't bother to find out the score until the next day. (And I still haven't seen the goal). I do get that watching England can be quite unrewarding: the boring 'attackers v defenders' qualifiers, the 'daytripper' Wembley crowds, and the half-paced, training session friendlies. And of course when we do play a decent team: the 'rabbit in the headlights' performances. But still, I am English, I can't support anyone else, and even though they constantly let me down I love the tournament finals and I live in constant hope that one day ....
So club or country? Both.

Parents complained their child's bike was also thrown in.
Not serious, but boorish & childish.
I've supported England for 60 years, have been to old & new Wembley, so I'm not going to give up now. I also love the Albion, so it isn't an either/or choice for me.

If we were doing OK in the World Cup and playing good football, I might sit up and take notice. But whereas in the past an England international on the TV would have been a must watch, now it is almost an "if there's nothing else on".

I like to see all our home nations do well in whatever sport they're partaking , i watched a game of cricket the other day between Afghanistan and Ireland was genuinely disappointed when Ireland failed to win , can't say i'm ever likely to pay to see England play home or away but i will for sure be hoping they do well , but the buzz is quite different and certainly more intense when it comes to club for me .
Nothing really... no different to what happens on a Stag Do.
I said this before but Amsterdam attracts a lot of travellers not part of EnglandFans and those that attach themselves to the trip as an excuse to behave how they want.
I guarantee those fans weren't in Lithuania etc last year

I used to go to quite a few England away games and I generally enjoyed it. A decent amount of fun, and banter with some decent people. But every match was different. The locality and timing of matches meant that you could tell that you would get more tossers on a trip. People treat a trip like Holland away as the same as a stag do. So you have lots of stag dos all at once. The football is secondary. To put that game on a Friday night was nuts.

When it comes to the England football team, I cannot contain my indifference. I'll admit to sticking the game on the other night (Holland) for Jnr to watch it, but to be honest, I was bored and ended up not really watching it.

Club. We invest in the Albion, either emotionally or finically or both, most weeks and they reward us a lot of the time. When will England ever do anything to raise our spirits the way Albion did when they won promotion, beat Arsenal, brought back Bobby Z and Glenn?
England friendlies are the most dispiriting, empty exercises in futility it’s possible to imagine. Qualifying games are almost as bad. Okay, I’ll watch the World Cup games and hope we get through (although I’ll face a dilemma if we play Poland in the knockout stages). But I fear that both the players and too many of the travelling fans will embarrass us in front of the world once again.
The worst possible outcome will be that some of the boozed up No Surrender brigade will come up against some professional hardnuts the way they did two years ago. There will be blood and there could be worse.
