Following on from the free agent thread i came across this on wikipidia (hardly the most reliable source, i know...)

Clarke told Sky Sports on 12 September that he was still hopeful of playing again,[13] but he never made another appearance for Leicester following the incident, and he returned to Sunderland in November. He left Sunderland by mutual agreement in February 2008 after medical advice.

Clarke has since told Sky Sports that he wishes to return to football and a number of clubs including Wycombe, Yeovil, Walsall and Brighton have enquired about him. He is currently negotioting a contract with Brighton manager Micky Adams and is rumoured to be close to agreeing a deal with the club.[14]

I suppose you know that as well, do you?
:tosser:

well, on current form its fair comment. seems unless hawkins declares himself injured and unable to play, Adams will pick him.

that was only added this morning and nothing about it on Sky Sports own site, so about as credible as any other made up rumour here.

Or perhaps the source of that piece of information on Wikipedia was indeed a NSCer.

Didn't he used to play on the wing for WBA in the late 60's?

Expect he's lost a little pace since then.

I'm not very comfortable about this. Whilst admitting that Clarke is a really good player for our level I'm not sure I want someone who may drop dead on the field in our team. I don't feel at all right in supporting people with a death wish. After all, he retired on medical advice. Sounds to me like someone who is ignoring that advice because he so wants to play. Sometimes, however, you have just got to be realistic and he DOES have a wife and kids.
