"Towns and cities around the world are turning out the lights for an hour to highlight the threat of climate change.

"Earth Hour" began in Sydney at 2000 local time (0900 GMT), when lights went out on landmarks like the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

Bangkok, Toronto, Chicago and Dublin are among 27 other cities officially due to follow suit at 2000 local time. "

what a load of GASH, do these people realise that the Earth is dying ANYWAY?!? winds me up all this Climate Change and Global Warming bollocks, we're better off funding NASA to speed up Space Travel so we can f*** off to another Planet and let this one rot away...thats MUCH more exciting!

I think you'll find that the EARTH will be OK.

Civilisation, as we know it, on the other hand ...

you make a VERY good point there LB, the Human Race is on a nosedive to HELL!

Besides it will be millions of years before the sun has expanded enough to melt everything in site and we'll be long gone by then.....which again proves my earlier point....why all the FUSS? we're gonna die ANYWAY!

on a pig farm
it should be simple to battle global warming

everyone is missing the obvious, instead of switching off lights

why dont we get everyone in the world to LEAVE THEIR FRIDGE/FREEZER DOORS OPEN for a day, that would cool things down a bit :)

Michael Foot will be the last man left alive on Earth - you heard it here first.

He keeps a slowly decaying and ever-uglier portrait of Margaret Thatcher in his attic.

its all fairly pointless. we live in a society where we must have 42" plasma TVs burning up a kilowatt of power (about the same as a small electric heater) but turning of the lights for one hour or not leaving the TV on standby, that'll save the planet  dont even start on those little plug in air fresheners.

It is a lot easier to get everyone thinking that they're "doing their bit" by turning their lights out for an hour, than to get them to do anything slightly more worthwhile like leaving their car at home for the day isn't it?

Well global warming was eventualy going to happen, we are just acting as a catalyst, there has always been natural disasters like the ice age.

At least the club is doing their bit.... Banning smoking at Withdean has reduced the CO2 emissions from several football fans for two hours every other Saturday for 21 weeks as year!

Of course, when you say "we", do you think that'll include you?

Instant space travel would be cool, but how many years would it take at light-speed to get to the nearest "M-Class" planet? That would be less exciting than my boring office!

Anyone over the age of 30 will be dead before global warming starts to have a real affect. We will just have the benefits of mild winters etc.

The hoodies, chavs, and beer swilling youths of today will have to pick up the pieces - its own back time:clap::clap::clap:

Too much evidence to suggest "global warming" is the biggest con in history.

And the evidence for a "con" is, what exactly?

I don't think the debate is about whether global warming is happening, only whether it is caused by human activity.
