The Bridcutt and Barnes money meant that our income this season was higher than expected. Rather than announce a smaller loss, or even a profit, the club will put some of next season's costs into this season's accounts, effectively carrying forward the Bridcutt and Barnes money to next year. Our costs for next year will be lower, so we effectively have more money to spend as our income, for sake of argument, will stay the same. Don't forget though, that our allowable loss next year is 2m less than this.
Ok I understand although can you bring £4 million worth of costs over? I remember last year it was things like the cost of the redundancy procedure, and the electronic advertising boards. I'm not sure what other things they can bring forward.

No idea. I am not an accountant, but was assured by one that it is entirely possible. This is why businesses employ accountants after all...

Incorrect, in fact your figures are laughable.

In 2011/12, we signed: CMS (£2.5m rising to £3.25), Hoskins (£750k), Buckley (£1m rising), Lua Lua (undisclosed), Ryan Harley (undisclosed), Vincelot (undisclosed), and VICENTE on a free. You say we spent £1m?

In 2012/13 we spent way over £2m. Ulloa was £2m alone, Dobbie rumoured to be £750k, Crofts £500k, Orlandi wouldn't have been peanuts. We also signed Kuszcak, Bruno, Wayne Bridge, David Lopez, Upson, and Hammond. All of whom would have been on decent wages.

Poyet was backed very well, the facts do not lie, we had the 8th biggest wage budget in 2012/13. In fact, if you take out clubs with parachute payments, we had the 2nd biggest wage budget in the league, behind Leicester, who under Sven were heading to administration.

You are missing the point

We know Poyet was backed and then Poyet said it stopped.

All you are doing is backing him up, adding in the players you say are missed adds even more to the argument and bringing up wages makes that even worse - What did we spend last season and what will we give to the new manager is what we are talking about.

Are we now sitting on £5M and about to sign 8 new players and pay them the wages to get us up and back Clement if its him?

I'm not sure if that is right for some reason, but if it is I would be happy making a profit on transfers. It would mean that despite what people say about Burke overall he is doing alright.

Yes agreed but we need promotion and that means getting the right manager and signing the right players now

Well I hope thats what we do because we need to do things in an intelligent way to maximise our spending power. It will be another sign that the club is well run.

True, but when you sign managers and players surley you think they are right at the time, otherwise what is the point of signing them. Only time will tell if they were right.

Nah, keep going the way he is. As long as it is another season of progress overall. I guess that means I'm expecting another season in the play-offs at least next season.

5 years ago we didn't have a stadium and were staring down the barrel of league 2 with a threadbare squad and the usual backs to the wall "aren't we unlucky but still fighting" attitude... We now have WORLD CLASS facilities. Have just had 2 cracks at the EPL. Watch entertaining classy football each week (relatively speaking), attract huge crowds and have a handful of young internationals involved in various tournaments... WHY DO THE NSC CHAT COMMUNITY KEEP MOANING!!!

If our financial year end is 30 June (?), then so long as we sign new players before pre-season, will their costs not appear in 2013/4 accounts?

Depends when our books run from (I think) and players on books can make them look better as eg a £2M player will go on immediately as a £2M asset even if we pay for them £1M up front and £1M later.

I think they can even write a players fee over a few seasons so the books don't tell the whole story remember they are only a snapshot at that time not the full picture up to date

Because all of the above has cranked up expectations massively and people can almost taste the Premiership but have had their hopes dashed on the rocks of 2 awful play-off semi final games which have raised a question mark in their minds about our financial competitiveness (despite the recent examples of the Arse and Burnley gaining promotion on a restricted budget).

It's interesting to hear him say the piece about not taking players with him. The language he uses at that point seems to infer he knows where he is going. Just a slip of the tongue maybe but a telling one.

More like there being only a few clubs that could afford the Real first team players that he was talking about and even fewer that could tempt them. None of which would want Clement as manager

Yes, he is hardly going to be bringing Ronaldo and Bale, but it's the way he is quoted that was interesting if it was word for word. He seems very certain he is off.
