Classic Football Chants

Was the goalkeeper the famous "fatty foulke"?
That was him.

It was a superb programme on BBC2 last night. Featured film of the 1902 Sheffield United -v- Burnley game, a Preston North End game from the same season and a Manchester United game in the first season that they used that name. Apparently there was a plan to call them Manchester Central, but it never took off.

The item about whether or not the Lancashire bowler was a "chucker" or not was interesting. Not just because they had enough film to demonstrate that he wasn't, but because of what it showed of basic batting and bowling styles a hundred years ago. Very different from now.
