I bought all of these, even Meaty, beaty, big and bouncy. My son has them all now and plays some of them on his fairly new record deck.

Just bought Meaty Beaty etc for my daughter for £4 as it was scribbled on. Got it home and discovered it said 'Best Wishes, Roger Daltrey'. - result!
Shame he's become a right wing numpty. (Daltrey, not my 11 year old daughter)

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead (or any Smiths album)

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses

De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising

Massive Attack - Blue Lines

Portishead - Dummy

Radiohead - OK Computer

Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid

Wild Beasts - Smother (I think I got into this album thanks to recommendations on NSC. I associate it with all the excitement around signing Craig Mackail-Smith when West Ham were supposed to be interested).

Julia Holter - Have You In My Wilderness

A few "cheats" (compilations, best ofs etc):

The Nextman - Personal Golf Instructions

Depeche Mode - Singles 81-85

Indestructible Beat of Soweto (volume 1)

Interesting choice for Rush. It’s a brilliant album; I remember seeing them perform Marathon, on the Hold Your Fire tour I think, and it brought a tear to my eye.

Marke Seymour is famous for a song covered by some big US act.

But this album is absolute mint. Hunters and collectors self titled. Listened to these when cranking up the barbie, sydney? ???

Probably wouldn't be that high up on most Rush fans lists but I loved that era for the band and that album is so underated.

Apologies if fixtures...one of the great jazz funk albums
https://youtu.be/3m3qOD-hhrQ

I thought of this after I did a list the other day.

Along with:
Bitches Brew - Miles Davis
Light as a Feather - Return to Forever (Chick Corea)

There’s one track on Light as a Feather - “What game shall we play today” - which had my two daughters exclaiming “tune!” And singing along every time it came on the car stereo….. and they still would.

Not much to add that hasn't already been mentioned except

The Clash - Give 'em enough rope
John Cooper Clarke - Walking Back to Happiness
Cream- Wheels of Fire

Wheels of Fire indeed:bowdown:
The first album I ever bought on the day it was released, and still play it regularly….. but these days on CD.
John Peel after playing the live version of Crossroads…. “And now tell me there are only three of them!”
And the studio album is second to none.

I remember buying it, when it came out, from a record shop in Lewes on the way home from college.

 I love it 'tune!!!'. All 3 are great musicians - I'll look up the 'light as a feather', I probably know the tune without knowing it's name. What a shame Chick Corea passed away, just such a talent.
I was lucky enough to see Miles Davis in London (must have been in the 80s??) when he'd moved into his jazz/funk era - I prefer his earlier stuff to be honest, but it was great to see the man live.
Vein Melter is just such a lovely track from Headhunters, so atmospheric.
