Surprised (or may have missed it) noone has mentioned Darren Currie. I know he was only here for a short time but he did have class - as sweet a left foot as you like - although obviously not blessed with great pace.

but he was right footed?

Sergei Gotsmanov must befit a flair class all of his own, how the hell Barry Lloyd pursuaded him to join is a mystery to me, it was almost as good as Charlton signing Alan Simonsen (who was at that time the European player of the year).

Yes, one of my all time favourites. Just a shame he didn't stay longer.

Danny Wilson was great for us. Total commitment, and a fair few goals as well. Has anyone mentioned Deano yet? Despite the Wendy tag, given time and space he could hit a superb through ball. Like Deano, Codner had his fair share of detractors, but over 40 goals from midfield is not bad by anyone's reckoning. If his attitude had been right, he could have done a lot more in the game.

I'm putting my flak jacket and tin helmet on now, but just how good was Jimmy Case for us in his first spell? Obviously brilliant in the Cup run, and I probably didn't see him that much as I was away at Uni, but I can remember being disappointed at his passing in the league games I saw him play in.

Why has everyone forgotten Wendy?

Also Brian Horton.
A midfield terrier yes... but also capable of controlling the pace of a game and spraying passes around the park.
