Tragic. Completely and utterly tragic. It's not often that I am lost for words, but I certainly am now. I was privileged to witness the two consecutive May 1981 gigs at The Brighton Centre. In 40 years of attending gigs regularly, I've never seen better.

Agreed - that Brighton Spingsteen gig was the best ever.

Also saw him in 1981 (at Hammersmith Odeon I think). That was "The River" tour? Saw him at Wembley in 1985-which was the best concert I ever saw. Saw him at Wembley Arena and Nottingham since then.

Got every Springsteen album. Cliche to say he was big part of the soundtrack to my life-but he was.

I'll always remember him for...

Quite apt for his fans.

Blimey, aint heard that for years, with Jackson Browne, and Darryl Hannah in the video I think, and I believe that was C's son on the drums.
I bought the album just after the BITUSAtour, Clarence Clemons and the Red Bank Rockers

The greatest ever rock saxophonist has just died. A sad day. The solo on Jungleland has never been bettered, before , since or will ever be. RIP.

The big man has left a big void.

R.I.P. Clarence

Thanks for the memories.

Thanks Greens :(
Gutted tbh. Just got the BS and ESB Live at Mainpoint double CD set, and there is a great monologue from Bruce about how he first met CC (possibly the first time he told that story?) at three thirty one morning on a dark windswept street somewhere in NJ. A sad loss...

Mrs SNG went to Nils Lofgren concert last night like the Merry Prankster and said that as well as asking everyone to say a prayer for Clarence , Nils did not do his customary signings after the concert.Clarence died about 7pm-US Eastern time.

It is hard to see how the E Street can continue,he was so much more than a member of that band. Seen them four times and i don't think there is a live band that is close to them. Maybe they should retire as a tribute to Clarence.

Almost certain they will use a video screen of the Big Man and sync that with a live performance, imagaine the crowds reaction when he pops up on screen!

Very sad, saw Springsteen and the E street band at Bramell Lane in 1988, still the best concert I have been to. The big man was a unique talent that will be massively missed! Just hope the E Street carry on as a tribute to him! RIP, sleep well.

RIP Big Man. Seen him a good few times, an absolute legend and a true star. Read his autobiography recently,he has understandably lead an interesting life.
I love Bruce and the E street band, not sure they can cover this massive loss though. So sad
