Yes but if i was in that line of work i could not get involved in conversation.pay up or it goes to the compound.

No it's not just you.

I got clamped a few years ago, parked for an hour in the evening of Easter Saturday in an otherwise deserted car park. Not doing anyone any harm nor blocking anything or anyone.

Absolute S****horpe's.

£100 - still wish I'd called someone to come and cut it off instead!

It's a mindset for me, I just wouldn't park illegally for even 30 seconds as I know, call me a pessimist, I would be ticketed even in that time !

it wouldn't be so bad if it was a reasonable sum of money, at least with a parking ticket you get a chance to pay a reduced rate. But the amount they charge is ridiculous, i just don't know how you could do a job in which all you do i s upset people.

Its only their job at the end of the day? I was sitting in Churchill Square the other day when a man saw this woman traffic warden and threw a lighter at her, now that wasn't on at all..

A mate of mine had his Land rover clamped and he just drove off with it attached. It lasted about 100 yards.

if you can remove a clamp without damaging it they cant do anything, it can be done if you know what you doing

If it was a council car park then why not pay the parking fee. If it was private land then thats' your own fault. No doubt you see yourself as a rebel and martyr to the cause hence you don't pay parking fees!!!! Alternatively, you may normally pay them but just thought that as it was Saturday night and the car park was empty then there would be no clampers working. You gambled and lost.

As for the original post, you probably have to be a certain sort to take the job in the first place. Regarding wardens, there was a report recently that they are going to have cameras on their uniforms to either record evidence or act as a deterrent. I've had tickets in the past but accept them if you are in the wrong. Contested one in Freshfield Road because of misleading signage and won that however it amazes me that even when people park in the dumbest of places they still think they are in the right and have a go.

The problem is that if you receive a ticket you can refuse to pay and fight it but if your car is clamped you are f....d as you either have to pay or lose the car. If they have done this illegally as happened with my daughter in law in Tunbridge Wells it cost her £200 but the company just ignored all letters demanding the money back and she wasnt prepared to take it to county court and make an appearance.

That made me laugh...pity I don't drive a Land Rover!

However, I am in the tedebear school, I am really careful about where I park and make sure that I do so legally.

A scumbag kept stealing our work car spaces in Hove on private land.
When challenged by clampers, he produced a rounders bat, but made a big mistake as they knew how to look after themselves.

In our case, we were very pleased for the clampers. The twat thief was stealing the use of land that didn't belong to him ... either out of tightness to pay for his own parking or sheer laziness as he lived close by.

I have a mate who got clamped for parking his car in his block's private car park. All because he had his car and a van for work and he forgot to swap the permit over one day.

Even though he proved he lived there and had a permit, they still wouldn't remove it for and had to pay up.

IE there were more of them than him
