At the same match he told Ben he was going to Sheff Utd but everybody ridiculed me when I said it on here.
To be fair, that was actually a bit of a wind up at the time, just to see how fast it would get on NSC. It was a minor coincidence that he actually ended up at SUFC, as two other Championship clubs were in the frame at the time...

I think it's great that CKR has done so well for himself and his faith in his own abilities was obviously well founded.

However during his time at the Albion he never really did anything at all. I cannot think of one game that he dominated. We were sadly only offered glimpses of what he could do. I know that Jam the Man will disagree but I never got the impression that CKR wanted to be at the Albion at all. His eyes were always on the future and he was impatient to reach a higher level. That he did so with such success is great for him, but I do not feel we missed out when he left as we were never going to be enough for him.

I'm quite enjoying watching an ex-Albion player at an international tournament, I hope he has a good one, even if Turkey don't appear to be that good this year.

I think that particular season was diabolical in it's entirety and I can't recall a worse season since we left Gillingham IMO.
I honestly believe that he did want to play for us, but as i said earlier, sometimes things just don't work out for a variety of reasons. Anyone who lays the SOLE blame of what happened during that season at the feet of any one of the many parties involved are frankly kidding themselves.
At the end of the day, in that season when many players underperformed - in terms of effort, application and/or ability - he finished top scorer for us despite being played out of position on many occasions (McGhee conceded that fact in the Argus)... and left when something better came along, partially because some vitriolic treatment went too far.

And yes, i know I WOULD say that wouldn't I!? :D

He's gone. We gained bucket loads of money out of it, and Brighton get mentioned on the box during the third biggest sporting tournament in the world ...

And that's that. Move on...

from sky sports website:

Interestingly, former Sheffield United player Colin Kazim-Richards was one of Turkey's better players, and having starred for Fenerbahce in the run to the Champions League quarter-finals, a few Premier League managers may be hoping he fancies a return to England this summer.

Or if only he had not been such a c*nt here you could argue.

Do you mean when he was wondering why the manager wasn't picking the team's top scorer, and sometimes not even putting them on the bench either, despite being fully fit?

Or would that be anything to do with McGhee's comments every week about not having a forward / striker at the club? even after one of our forwards scored?

Maybe McGhees lack of playing a settled team, constantly playing with players out of position frustrated players, led to poor performances and this meant we didn't get the best out of those we had here.

No wonder why he didn't feel valued by the manager, and looked to move on, which has worked out very well for him, and good luck to him.

I didn't go to many games whilst CKR was playing due to a number of reasons but when I did he always looked good potential. He was always sub and treated like shit by manager and fans alike.

No wonder he wanted to leave, he was never really given a chance from what I heard and saw.

This is a case of management not harnessing potential and using it - he should have been a legend.

He did have a good game. I reckon he could get pissed off with them though. It seemed that even though he was the only Turkish (well sort of Turkish) player getting any joy he was rarely given the ball. Turkey seemed to want to go down the left wing every time and time & time again they were getting nowhere.

I wondered whether this had anything to do with the fact that - according to the commentators - he hardly speaks any Turkish. Perhaps there was a communication problem. I thought he was getting into good positions but he was often ignored as a passing option. And he held the ball up qute well when he did get it - stronger than I remember him at the Albion.

Good luck to him. I'm sorry it didn't work out for him with us and he was a bit of a twat at times; but I can't bear him the same grudge I hold for the likes of Leon Knight.

Sorry must disagree because there is no way that he knew Ben, who to him was just a fan who went up to him and asked him for his autograph and if he was staying at Brighton as there had been numerous rumours and his answer was 'No this is probably my last game as I am signing for Sheff Utd on Monday,' actually he signed nearly a week later.

Ironic that Leon's best spell in professional football was when he was here, wonder if he ever thinks "shit, I really am a twat, look what I threw away"?

Whilst I wonder if those that thought he was so great and we should change the whole team around to play to his strengths in all those debates on here have managed to accept how wrong they were, thought not..

Wasn't his best spell here before McGhee took over? before we went long ball to an isolated striker, despite Knight being only 5ft and a bit - a tactic what makes about much sense to me as playing Guy Butters as a pacey winger. So yes we should have looked to play in a way that was more suitable to the types of players we had. - so of course Knight would become frustrated and want to leave.

I always got the impression from McGhee that when he took over, he didn't believe in any of the current players abilities, and wanted to ship them all out, rather than work with what we had, because it didnt suit his preferred style of play, long ball to a tall player like McCammon, Iwelumo etc. McGhee lacked the ability to chance his tactics to suit what we had available.

So now he's got away from McGhee, who's fault is it that he is now not even 1st choice in a League 2 team and has moved on twice since he left us?

He had his longest and most succesful spell under McGhee and managed to play 2 divisions above where he is now for a while, not very well I might add but again that's McGhee's fault apparently and Leon is blameless it seems.., Coppell left VERY early in the playoff season and I agree LK was playing well but he always plays well for the 1st ten games doesn't he, wherever he is.

Incidentally McGhee's preferred style of play is not long ball, he just didn't have the players here in the Championship to play any other way. Leon Knight would not have made it in the Championship whoever he played for, he is no better than League 1 at best and even that is in question now. If proof was ever needed that McGhee did the right thing sticking him on the wing in the Championship and not playing him in the middle where he was too small, too slow, not skilful enough and a diving cheat ,it's that no-one above League 2 seems to want him. more?

I'm not for a second going to get in an argument about this, but he actually signed about 6 weeks later (Worthing game was mid July, he left on Aug 31st), and i can only say that I was told that it was a planted answer.

I suspect we'll have to agree to disagree.

I remember him playing a reserve game at Worthing (would have been after July), and he was subbed about the 70th minute, came off with his head down. McGhee and Brooker were by the dug out and paid him little eye contact. He had already fallen out with management.

2 or 3 league managers (Coppell one I think) watching from the stands and he was sold to the blades within a week or so.

Good player always remember the headed goal last minute verus Wednesday.

I seem to recall that people round him were very good and getting their view on here.

Seem to be very good at PR the CKR entourage.

I had a huge slice of it too in the stands at Millwall as I'm sure many other fans have. Well I saw other fans getting a huge slice.

Nothing will convince me otherwise that the move out of the club was engineered, but good luck to him. He was too good for us and he and all those around him knew it.

He actually said goodbye to the players when that game had finished and was signed for Sheff UTD by the next afternoon (I believe it was the next afternoon, not far out if not).
