Sadly, I had to watch someone on the back seat of an Albion coach (I recall it was just in front of NSC1 on the motorway home) repeatedly mooning the family of Bristol City supporters behind them.

I'd rather my kids hadn't witnessed it, too.

There are idiots on both sides, always, and we shouldn't be blinkered to it.

Isn't there just?

Many times I've been embarrassed to be wearing Albion colours thanks to the one functioning brain cell faction that attaches itself to The Albion for 'good' games-London, Southend, South Coast, etc.

I just wish they'd (morons from ALL teams) f**k off back under the rocks from which they crawled out from under. How bloody annoying is it to be branded a thug because we enjoy football, simply because of the actions of a few idiots?

...and breathe

I found all the City fans to be good natured. You will always get the odd 1% who are ungratious scum and this thug clearly falls into that bracket.

Lets hope some nasty fate befalls him to see how important losing a football match is when you are fighting for your life.

On NSC for over two decades...
The majority of both the Bristol AND Brighton fans were fine before, during and after the match.

All the police forces involved seemed perfectly happy with the way the day went from what I've read.

I met plenty of very very bitter city fans after the game at the station wanting a fight, trying to prove why they should go up, slating our ground, throwing full pints at the brighton fans etc, which by far outweighed the pleasant comments we received wishing us well- of which i can only remember two.

But going on what people have said on here, half of us seemed to have bad experiences after the game, half good. Remember there were 35thousand city fans at the game so obviously there are gonna be plenty of w***ers at the game, from both sets of supporters (although it did seem city had more than their fair share from my experience).

As for the story on the argos, that is just sick.

I'll see as I find. The atmosphere was excellent before the match with no trouble, and most Bristol people (bar a small handful of muppets at the station) were perfectly gracious in defeat.

Gareth, this bloke was a mindless idiot - but I've seen plenty of those sort of twats "supporting" Brighton. Best not get too tribal about it all I think.

The biggest idiot I saw all day was a policeman at Newport Station who was spoiling for a fight and threatened to pull my brother off the train because some bloke behind him (a Welshman who had been to the game and was in the Bristol end who we had never met before) shouted something fairly harmless out of the window (I can't even remember what he said).

I met some decent Brizzle fans, mostly after the game who were all decent people, and very gracious in defeat. Some on the train to Cardiff came out with all the gay stuff, unoriginal but just banter. However as has been pointed out all football clubs have dickheads, and certainly the example in the Argus is one of the highest (eg lowest) order

I found that there were plenty of unpleasant City fans at the Play Off final and at the Game at Ashton Gate last month. They seemed absolutley obsesed with the whole gay thing.

Can't tar them all with the same brush, but they do seem to have a high muppet quota in their ranks.

But being an albion fan, you're only going to get conflict with the City fans, not the few wankers that we've got as Albion fans.

Be real here, statistically speaking, there's going to be as many tossers from Bristal as there are Brighton. A lot depends upon who you happen to encounter.

I met some in a pub after the game, and although not happy (can't blame them there), they thought that we'd played OK, and our defence had won the game. No abuse, nothing.

On the coach back, there was a bit of piss taking to the City fans on their coaches, but that's being done on both sides and you expect that between rival fans.

When we played Palace last year, before the game I was following a group of Albion fans who went to cross the road to pick on a couple of smaller Palace fans, just walking to the game and minding their own business. Only when thye saw the Police did they cross back and leave them alone. See, we've got them too....

I went to the pub opposite the castle after the game and a couple of Brizzle fans were giving me the evils cos I was belting out Albion songs for 15 minutes or so. I stopped, went over and commiserated with them, and ended up spending a good hour or two chatting to them. Even got bought a beer. Then some pissed up Brighton twat came over and started having a go at them and me. Can't even remember what he was saying, but he was a right **** and nearly got himself lamped. As you say, both teams had their twats on Sunday, but on the whole it seemed good.

We definitely have a section of fans capable of causing trouble, I was delayed leaving the game at Ashton Gate because the police were escorting a largish group of presumably Albion fans back towards the city centre, I say presumably as none of them were wearing any colours. The behaviour of the police may have been a little over the top, though they rarely commit large numbers to escort fans unless there are reasonable grounds to expect trouble.

I don't want to try and paint us in a bad light, but I can remember numerous away games where there has been an element following our team who have appeared likely to cause trouble. My experiences on Sunday were pretty good, only heard a few homo chants when walking past a pub full of City fans, standing near to the area where our fans were I heard some abuse directed at City fans walking past, so I guess this is a case of pot calling kettle...

We give as good as we get.

Our behaviour on Sunday, on the whole, was brilliant. And the TV coverage bore that out. They kept going on about the well-behaved and loyal Brighton supporters. Brilliant and well done all!
